Why on screen keyboard don't work with all games?
I am trying to launch osk with my controller, but it only opens in some games. When I try to launch osk in games like GTA V, it do not appear. When i close or minimize the game, osk will be opened in the desktop, any fix for this?

Maybe running in windowed mode vs exclusive. Not familiar with how osk does its thing.

Some games also have steam overlay disabled by default and you have to enable it. It's possible osk uses that, not sure.

I'd guess it need be one or the other though... using windowed modes and 'always on top' or using steam overlay.
can you tell me how to disable/enable steam overlay for individual games? also playing on windowed mode breaks immersion for me.
borderless window is the same as fullscreen in terms of visible function, but it allows to render something over it. many games use that as their fullscreen option.
exclusive fullscreen applications don't allow that and its rarely named like that.
so if there is fullscreen and borderless window as options in the ingame settings, fullscreen should not work in combination with something like an on-screen keyboard as it probably is exclusive fullscreen.

the Steam overlay can be disabled on a per game basis in their steam properties(rightclick game in Steam) and it's literally the first checkbox you will find.
All that^^

I'm guessing you just want to chat using the controller without worrying about a keyboard.

You might look into some kind of dictation software. There's one in particular marketed for gaming but I don't recall.

Wouldn't an on-screen keyboard violently break 'immersion'?

Maybe i need to change that in GTA V in-game options and check the osk.
Also isn't that gives performance hit between exclusive full screen and borderless window? From what I remember, exclusive full screen gives more performances than borderless one with some games. Even if osk works with borderless window, I don't want the fps loss because of osk.

Thats exactly what I am looking!
Can you try to recall that software, it may solve this issue. Also does that software related to changing full screen into borderless?

Nope it won't, it's a useful feature for PC gamers who uses controller all the time and don't want to use M&K. But the developers forget/ignore to bring system-wide osk that work with all the games. Steam osk is the closest option for now.

Also some other games like Skyrim, it asks for the name during the game's prologue. But there's literally no way to type the name besides using M&K when using the controller. While the console gamers have the luxury to bring the osk anytime theh want. I want this to happen in PC too, it's just a small feature but very useful sometimes.

Voice Attack - think it's basically you say things instead of typing them and it types them. But it also maps voice commands to keyboard/controller input. So you say "do the contra code" and it sends up up down down left right left right ba ba start.

It's an voice tool, sorry but that's not I am looking. I am looking for either the tool that makes the steam osk works with all games or the osk that can works with all games (which is less likely since I havent came across such osk apart from steam one).

Okay, I got it. I think you're right, tested with games like GTA V and Hitman 3, borderless window allowed the osk to appear which is what I need.

Thanks for telling.
