Steam customer service is terrible.
Just wanted to point out the one and only time I've ever asked for customer support I didn't get even so much as a suggestion of what to other than to contact the game developer who had nothing to do with the issue. They made absolutely no attempt to help me with what is quite clearly a cloud save issue that I spent almost 4 months trying to remedy on my own. One of the last messages I got was the person telling me I had no cloud save for that game (even though it's an issue on multiple games) in the first place which is because I spent 2 hours figuring out how to delete it on my own since they refused to offer even a suggestion on what to do which still didn't fix the problem. Last email I got said we've provided all the support we can on this issue (zero) and we're closing the ticket. I've spent thousands of dollars on here and they can't even be bothered to provide BASIC customer support so I'll take my business elsewhere. Literally the worst customer support experience I've ever had with any company and I used to own a Dell PC so let that sink in.

The few times I had to actually contact Support they were very helpful and solved my problems quickly, so I can't agree on that.

I had to wait a few days, yes, probably the only negative, but that's to be expected when everyone writes a ticket for nonsense they cant even do anything about.

Like VAC Bans.

Steam support is only there for account and billing issues. They don't deal with such technical issues, so it's not a surprise you didn't get an answer.

Bin that phrase also. It’s steam support.
You are a customer of the game developer.

Bye bye now.

So you had one bad experience and that equates to "the worst" ever. And for an issue they are not there to handle. Your logic is highly flawed.

Yes genius I'm sure they have nobody there that handles cloud issues, you're really a bright one aren't you.

Good for you? What does that have to do with my experience? They didn't even attempt to help me with something that was not an issue the game developer has anything to do with. It wasn't even just one game in the first place.

Yes I'm well aware it's steam support, was that not obvious from the fact I said it was? It is a steam issue not a specific game issue.

you put this in a forum to discuss it. all we can do is either agree and/or let others know what our experience was.

so far, mine has been pretty good as well

whatt was the original problem? what info did they give? how did they try and help before the end?

all we have is your sorta rant in wall o text format.

I've only had to contact Steam Support once before... they responded and corrected my problem in swift timely fashion...:-)

It has something to do with the Topic you created in a Public Forum. If you dont like answers, post your rant in a .txt file.

Did the issue with the saved data get resolved?
wuddih Aug 25, 2022 @ 10:25am
Steam support can see cloud storage, so they were probably correct telling you that you had no files for a specific game.

there was, i repeat, was a visual error that displayed cloud sync error for games that didn't even had cloud support. this should be widely fixed. if not, update Steam, reboot.

if you wanna more specific help, provide more details.

Steam customer service is crap, even when they are giving you suggestions. I want them to fix their app, not inconvenience me with 7 step of how to maybe, possibly fix the issues that THEY are causing.

As to the cloud issue: That has been going on for I think around a year? It started off innocuously enough. I first noticed it with House Flipper, so everyone thought it was their interface to Steam's cloud. Then, it was every single game that offered cloud functionality through Steam. It became apparent that Steam's cloud functionality was itself faulty. Attempts to contact customer service went as I said above. A complete waste of my time and energy.

I turned off all cloud services for ALL games. I got sick and tired of the errors saying that the Steam cloud was not synced. I even bought a new game, installed it, try to start it, and was molested with an error message that the Steam cloud was out-of-sync.

Then, I checked my games, and ALL of the games had the cloud services re-activated! I went back through and de-activated it in ALL of them AGAIN!!

So, you are correct. Their customer service is by-and-large crap. I have rarely had a positive experience with them. The cloud issue sucks, so I advise people to put their saves on a flash drive if they want to play on a different device, and to back them up.

I also have a problem with customer support. I contacted steam to get a replacement for my index controller and did all the shipping stuff and it’s been like 7 months now and still no controller. After a month passed I thought this was taking awhile so I went to contact support about if the controller was being shipped, I clicked the support button and it asked me for the controller serial number. The way steam’s support works is you send them the broken controller the sent you an intact controller. So when it asked me for the controller’s serial number I COULDN'T TYPE IT IN BECAUSE I DONT HAVE THE CONTROLLER THEY DO. After that experience I decided to sell the index cause I’m not dealing with crappy support like this.
