We anticipate it will appear with the Winter Sale.
I got it a few weeks ago. Woke up and found I had a massive bruise down my spine which won't go away.
Do you want one too? I guess it's a bit different for a Steam badge, but I guess they're pushing boundaries.
Any takers?
Once the sale begins the names and art for the cards are changed and the badges can be crafted. Any other means of getting cards won't happen until the sale begins
Remember that the Steam day starts at 1PM Eastern/10AM Pacific, not at Midnight.
Can please explain this? I've never been much inteerested in steam cards but lately I've been wanting to making my profile more flashy and I need to level up my account. Still learning about how level and cards work. What are these mystery and mysterious cards?
Secondly, it's like this. You buy games and many of them have cards you can earn. You will always be able to earn up to HALF the total number of cards that are in a game's set. If a game has say 10 cards to a aset you will unlock ANY 5 (even duplicates).
From there, you either trade for the others or buy them on the market. Get a set and you can "craft" them into a badge which gives you XP and increases your level.
In turn, this gives you a few little extra features like increases your friends list, and gives you a TINY increases in the chance of booster packs dropping.
If you want to get cards efficiently and cheaply, DO NOT go for the ♥♥♥♥ "non games" that some recommend, as they don't get traded. Go for games like in Humble Bundles, Fanatical, or any of the charity sites. These agmes are often very popular and dirt cheap, pennies, much of the time.
This means you have both cards cheap, and the ability to trade them cheaply too.

Steam Awards badge for the Winter sales event is not the same as a Seasonal badge. The Steam Awards badge has no real limit to how high you can craft it (how much money the high rollers are willing to spend is the only factor) while the Seasonal badges only have 20 levels.
so close...,,
First do as much of the Pillar of the Community badge. That's a freebie badge that gets you XP for doing various things. You'll also gain XP for buying games. You want to be at least level 2, I'm pretty sure that's the minimum for something... either having cards drop at all or maybe booster packs dropping.
Every time someone crafts a badge for a particular game, every player who owns that game and has gotten all of the original drops (you know, the half of the total you get for free by playing the game) has a small chance of getting a booster pack from THAT GAME. That last part is important because it means that the more popular a game is, the easier it tends to be to get booster packs from it. Every five levels you have on Steam increases your odds of getting a booster pack drop by a very slight amount. If you're level 100, it's not all THAT uncommon to get a booster pack every week or two. If you're lower level the booster pack drops will be few and far between.
Check your User-Name---->Badges page and make sure there's no games you haven't get gotten all your drops for. If you have any there will be a Play button on the game's badge page.
I am currently buying from Humble Bundle, Fanatical, Nuuvem and G2A (crazy enough, sometimes prices are even cheaper there) and have gathered quite a few games for an absurd price, making it cost-effective? About cards, though, I think that's where I fall short since I don't have too many "friends" in here and trading requires friendship. I guess I was looking for it to be less tedious of a task but it seems it's like the real card trading out there and I'll need to either join a group or add a bunch of people to trade with. Just placing stuff in the market to buy/sell cards isn't cutting it. Thanks you!
Ah well first of all, you're doign the right .... except that LAST place you're buying. There's a reason it's scored out here BECAUSE IT'S A DODGY SITE. I know which ones it is. They buy codes sourced from stolen credit cards, or outright stolen keys. They break countless EU consumer laws as well. If you get a problem where your key gets removed because it was rescinded due to being bought with a stolen credit card, you're out of luck.
Yeah, DON'T go there. It's awful for the industry, at least the indie studios anyway. It's cost many thousands.
And you don't need friends, though it does help. You can simply buy and sell on the market if push comes to shove. INstead of trading, sell what you don't want, buy what you do.
