So instead of saying Mr.Raider [ITA] [Gmod Maker] it would say the same thing as what you login to steam with?

You could, but its not smart and would be exposing yourself to risks

It is not recommended to use your account name as your display name. You can if you want that is up to you, but account names are not seen by anyone but you, Steam support and the hijacker if you give away your log-in credentials.

Using it is fine if using phone authentication, telling people you are using it less so.

On Steam, profile names and account names are entirely different things. Even you do use the same, for some reason, an attacker wouldn't know.

Also, even if the attacker does know, you're still only exposing one piece of the login information. Attackers will still need your password, your EMail account, and possibly that phone thingy.

If you don't let people know, they wouldn't know if you were using your login name as your username.

One less piece of information is still one less piece of information. With the account name it would let phishing sites use a much more believable attack against someone for instance.
