Why does steam update everyday ?
Is there a way to solve this? It's a tad annoying waiting for steam to update everyday when i wanna play some games.

I doubt steam really do push out daily updates?

can you at least stop steam from doing it?

Because it is very irritating.
Can try offline mode, or google what you need to block.

But what you're claiming getting update daily, is not happening for everyone because this shouldn't be happening is what we're telling you, it means either something is stopping the update from happening like 3rd party software you have install on your system, such as fireware, or anti virus, or you using custom firewall you setup on modem/route that blocking update being sent to you, or something wrong with your Steam files and need to replace those corrupted files.

Can give these a try to see if issue resolve.

- Opt into Beta, then opt our of beta see if issue resolved.

- Reinstall Steam, to keep games, go to where you install Steam, move "steamapp" folder outside of Steam folder, then uninstall steam, then ensure Steam folder gone, if not then delete it, then reinstall steam, launch Steam to download client, don't login just exit, move back "steamapp" folder back into Steam folder, click yes to replace, then launch, and login to Steam. and see if issue resolved that way.

We're not joking at all how little Steam updates their client, as they update the live side at least once a month, you can see for yourself here.
https://store.steampowered.com/news/?feed=steam_client
In july we got 4 updates, every month was just one, or two, that how little we're talking here compare to your every day update claim.

For Steam beta update list here, as you can see can range upwards of 10 updates a month, compare to live side that normally get one update.

Are you subscribed to the Beta channel?
JBM Jul 29, 2020 @ 9:52am
I don't think it is. I've been seeing the "client update" windows twice a day for 3 days now, but it always says the latest update is from 9th July.

I guess we just have to wait for a real update to remove this annoyance.

Steam > Settings > Account, look at Beta participation.

Another cause might be, that some program is interfering with Steam.

Thanks for the suggestions. I checked Beta participation, and i'm not participating. I can't think of any installed program which would interfere with Steam. It's never been a problem in the past, so it's very odd.

The July 9th client update got 3 times rereleased with hotfixes. It even says so in the patch notes: https://store.steampowered.com/news/?feed=steam_client

Note: This update has been re-released on July 28th to fix an issue with launching games.

Note: This update has been re-released on July 24th to fix an issue with chat in certain games.

Note: This update has been re-released on July 15th to fix an issue causing web views to crash and reload in certain conditions on 32-bit versions of Windows and new installs of Steam.

However, if it is actually updating every day for you, you have likely a corrupted install.

You may also be confusing the verifying window for an update window. It says "Updating Steam" on top, but under the bar it then only says "verifying the installation". That's merely a check to see whether it's the latest version.

I am not participating in any beta stuff so no idea what the go is.

Steam has done this for ages i've just kinda gotten used to it i suppose but i figured it was time to ask.

Don't know what programs could interfere with it and cause daily "Updating".

Does steam have a way of validating wherever the current install is corrupted like you can with games ?

the steam client only updates maybe once a month if that

If you're getting steam licent updates 'all the time' you're on the beta branch
I have the exact same issue as OP. Not participating in Beta and still Steam wants to update every day while telling me it is installing latest update from July 9th.

Someone above you pointed out that there were four updates this month already: https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/0/2798376550595612246/#c2798376550595641486

I haven't had this issue however today I did a client update, restarted and then had to do another update. Not sure what happened as I didn't read the notes but I've never had one update after the other like this.

^This, there bug need hit fixing on the current update which they had to fix.

If you're getting updates every day as you claim then something wrong that causing this problem. For getting updates very frequently then you're on the beta side of Steam, if you don't want to update often don't opt in to steam beta.
