Steam account: link with Facebook not working ("App not set up")
Just noticed that the "Link with Facebook" feature under Edit Profile isn't working for me anymore.

Click on button, loads Facebook with this error message (screenshot in link at bottom):
Error

App not set up: This app is still in development mode, and you don't have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions.

Has been linked for years now, and was still working a few days ago when I checked there.

Anyone else having the same issue?

No knowledge of Facebook development, but if others can duplicate, looks like Steam has tweaked something and not flipped the switch approving the Steam/Facebook application for public, judging by this Stack Overflow thread[stackoverflow.com].

Thanks for the feedback; I've sent a ticket to Steam Support as of yesterday to let them know.

Suspect something was changed their side and they need to flip that switch for public/live use again.

    Hi [name redacted],

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Will there be an update to the community to inform when the issue is resolved (other than having to manually check back at one's own discretion)?

    Kind regards,

    Hi [name redacted],

While Steam Support does not individually update users when fixes for issues like this are made available, they are generally announced though the Client Updates section in Steam News.

Note that many fixes are also often first published to the Steam Beta Client, so you may want to opt into the Beta using the instructions below:

    1) In Steam, click on "Steam" in the upper left, then choose the "Settings" menu. (Preferences on Mac)
    2) On the "Account" tab under "Beta Participation" click the "Change..." button.
    3) Select the desired beta test from the "Beta Participation" drop down list and click "OK".
    4) You will be prompted to restart Steam, please select the "Restart Steam" button.

Note: In some cases, you may need to perform these instructions twice for the beta to take effect.

If you have any further questions or encounter any difficulty with this process, please refer to the Steam client Beta group.

    Hi [name redacted],

Thanks for the info. Should've realised that.

Was just asking because it's not a client-specific issue and affects the Steam platform in general (i.e. on the web too).

Thanks for the follow up answer though.

    Have a good day.

This Issue was posted before, and the Poster in that thread messaged support aswell, the Support answered that this feature was infact sunset and is no longer available. No idea why the support says something else this time, but they wont fix it because its not a desired feature anymore.

How long ago was this? Unless my memory is serving poorly, I could have sworn that it was still showing as enabled only a few weeks ago at most. That or the feature wasn't working but still showed as a bug.

Either way, wouldn't surprise me if I got mismatched advice; isn't that what happens with most first line support tickets anyway (especially on Steam) :')

Not really fussed tbh so dw, but dya have the link for this thread? Tried searching quickly and came up blank.

No. Why not? Because the feature was removed.

Not sure why you're replying to an outdated thread. The Facebook link was removed and no longer works.
