"Verify a Credit Card" for Steam Market

I recently got a gift card and wanted to use it on the steam market. After adding the money I tried buying something but got an error telling me I had to verify the "credit card". When I try to begin the verification it says "Your bank declined one or both of our small authorizations. If you clear this issue up with your bank, you can retry then". Obviously the problem is I can't authorize anything because it's a credit card. Is there another way to pass this?

If you can't verify the gift card (usually the case with *gift* cards), you have to wait out the 3 days.

this sucks.. i dont even use a credit card on adding funds to my wallet but they asked me for a verification..total piece of ♥♥♥♥

As in you used a debit card? That's a fine hair to be splitting and you'll have to be very careful that you actually know the differences before wading to far into that discussion. Now-a-days, most debit cards are also tied to a credit card company and you're not informed when you're using one or the other.

Or are you claiming that you used a gift card? Properly, that is a Steam Wallet Card and it's redeemed in a different place than purchasing Wallet funds. If you used a Wallet code, you would not have triggered the card authorization since they are different systems. Far more commonly, you got a prepaid credit card, which some people refer to as a gift card. Whether it's prepaid or not is irrelevant for the check.

1) Add funds using credit card
2) Add funds using a Steam Wallet code

Those are only authorization taps. The funds never leave your credit account and will be released back to you in a few days as if nothing ever happened.

And you probably entered the wrong amounts which is why you have to wait the 3 days.
