Lost Files Borderlands 2
In order to free up some space, I saw a file called PC Games File, 1.5KB, didn't look like much, so I deleted it
ALL my games on STEAM with ALL my characters have all disappeared, I tried backing up the files to no avail, unless I didn't do it properly, my best games, SKYRIM & Borderlands 2, all gone, 2800 hrs gone in a second

So why does STEAM have a backup procedure if it doesn't back up the game, in the game it says "saving gameplay" not with Borderlands 2 it doesn't

Freeing up 1.5k?

Where you did delete this file?

Your Borlderlands 2 save files are in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Borderlands 2\
Your Skyrim save files are in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves

So that one single file being deleted couldn't have deleted everything from every game.

Both Borderlands 2 and Skyrim use the steam cloud, so there is also a copy in the cloud waiting to download should it be needed when you launch them.

It is entirely unclear what file you deleted.
What's also unclear is why you had the bright idea to delete a file without knowing its purpose. Hope the 1.5 KB were worth it.

You should still have either the locally stored saves or the ones in the cloud. Or both. Start by finding out what that 1.5 kb file did, then plan the next steps. It may just be a display thing. When you uninstall Skyrim or BL2, their save files are not deleted. You would have to go into your Documents folder and delete them by hand.

Don't go deleting files from the Steam folders, unless you know exactly what you are doing. From the sounds of things the file you deleted is the one Steam uses for its own internal use that contains your steam games info.
No more file, so as far as the Steam client now thinks, no games.

Get in touch with Steam. See if they can help you, and stop messing with stuff in the Steam folders - it is easy to break things.

You used it wrong i guess. Why even delete 1.5 kilobytes of data those are very very tiny amount of data. 1,000KB = 1MB 1,000MB = 1GB No point in deleting 1.5kb of data also NEVER EVER delete any files from the game Steam folder unless you know what your doing 100%!!!!

what are you talking about, deleting steam doesnt delete all your game saves, some may be lost but many hold there saves outside of steam folder.

How? Oh for games like The Division and DCUO they keep your saves on their servers.

I still dont know what your talking about. How are only some lost? well some games have saves in a different directory on your computer, they dont hold there save files inside of the steam folder. Some games do though, but even reinstalling steam shouldnt hurt these files. Ive deleteed steam from my computer before and just reinstalled it and all my games were fine, none of them lost any saves.
