Messaggio originale di Uncle Epic:
People are steadily going over to GOG and Epic plus the other two, as their main software stores. So I would think those outlets are going to survive, maybe even flourish. It's the amount of those people leaving that will be the indicator of change.
The main thing is there will always be a option there for people who want to turn their backs on steam.
Going over?
You got any actual numbers to back that up?
Most people just buy the games they want on the platform that offers the features that are most convenient at the pice they deem most reasonable and news flash. MOst people I wager maintain accounts on multiple p,latforms simultaneously buying when and whereever.

These are stores...not religions. You can have more than one at the same time.

It starts with a trickle.

Valve is known to be greedy.
I play somewhat regularly on Steam and on GoG and now on Epic - Steam for my main selection of games, GoG for my favorite oldies some of which seem to be too old for Steam, lol, and Epic for particular games. They're all good for playing games on! I would think players who tend to get a lot of games of different types would maintain accounts on different platforms, so I think Start_Running is more likely correct.
It's up to developers whether or not they want their game to be free. Not Valve.
i know someone that maintains 500 epic accounts for whatever reason ;)

Then that's a wager you would lose.
Citation needed. Since you've done the equivaklent of saying that people who shop at COstco never shop anywhere else.

Those that are deeper in the hobby sure. But for the average consumer?
Likely even moreso. Since they would have less brand-loyalty. They're more prone to just buy the game off of whichever platform has it the cheapest. Or which ever platform they're using when they happen to see it.

The same average that includes those who buy COD and FIFA like it's not the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ release after release.
Careful. Any of them can, with equal accuracy, say the same thing about any game you like.

The average who only got into PC gaming once it was made convenient enough through Steam. The average who kept buying Skyrim edition after damned.
You mean what a store would consider a very valuable and good customer?

Here, enjoy some free games. Also, in case you have never paid attention, Valve has given away numerous games over the years.

Messaggio originale di luden#1:
Take advantage of Epic while they're trying to get customers because later they will have the exact same prices and events other stores have.

Yup this, Grab those free ones while you can, even if you do not end up buying any games in the Epic store now. there may come a time in where you actually do..

and hey free is free, cant go wrong there at all
