Personaly, I won't spend more then I can make selling trading card on the market for any skin.
I would say it's worth it if you really like CSGO and plan on investing time into the game but if it's just a side game for you I wouldn't :) I personally think it's fun to have one, once you get a knife it's hard to go back to a vanilla one haha
If you are meaning "worth" as STATUS, no, no Skin in CS:GO gives you status, it's just cosmetics, it's just to you feel better by using something good looking or make people feel envy for you.
If you are meaning "worth" as IF WORTH TO BUY, that depends on you. Do you think spend a lot of money in something to change the look of a weapon is good? Well, you can see the price and maybe you will find a knife and say "oh... I think I can deal with that price" or "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ too much expensive, I'm not gonna sell my arm for it."
i suggest getting a knife if youre really into the game. Pouring Hours in it. its worth it.
Karambits have proven to give better movement.

You can just look at it and flex on other players. In my opinion:
No
It does improve your confidence. Slightly.
Times changed, laddie!
You guys once comment that we spent a lot on pressured rocks and make ups.
Look who is checking wears everyday and who is screaming when they open a box to see something yellow and shiny?
