I have one 80% deal and many 75% deals as well, so i wouldn`t call it pointless, if you care that much about cent cards, then wait for the winter sale.
There's never been a warranty of other minor sales (Halloween, Black Friday, St Valentine) to feature games.
Just like people bought games to boost their library count or to get the sale achievements to get freebies. Nothing new under the sun.
I personally buy them now to play them when I have time. Sure I have a humognous backlog, but I have disposable income to allow it to grow even bigger. And there's always a few games I play right off the bat after buying them.
You can actually play the games you buy, you know? There's crazy people out there who do that during sales. :)
Playing games?! What ?! Heresy !
Seriously speaking, I have finished about 400 games from my library, sadly over a 1000 I had to label as crap as I just couldn't be bothered (games from bundles where I wanted 1 and it came with 10 others... etc. plus some disappointments).
Thing is, during proper big sale I can maximize profit by crafting badges, getting extra wallpapers, emots to sell, to then buy games etc. :)
You really have to hand it to Valve: they created an environment to mindlessly spend more money in an industry many complain about high prices, secondary monetization and exploiting customers ... and barely anyone cares.
I'm planning on getting some games, I haven't decided how many. Some of the games will have cards drop when I play them, some of those cards will be worth more than I received during either the winter or summer sales.
I have yet to see a sale without complaints. It's kind of a funny tradition.
I enjoy and despise them at the same time.
Ive picked up a couple of games at 66% off when the pattern for the last few years has been for them to be 50% during the summer/winter sales with the lower discounts happening inbetween the major sales.
See you all during winter sales with even more ppl crying how sales are totally the worst
Jokes aside: i hope you know that back in the old retail times, you were lucky to see sales as deep as sometimes on Steam
Other ocasional sales that don't last so much won't give you any of these.
Will be holding off until winter sales.
And that is you.
You are free to wait for sales with card, but a sale is not pointless with out them. Most people just want to get the games at a good discount and don't care about cards.
