FAQ About Lag & Disconnecting Issue Especially at SEA Server

First

Before you start to create a thread about this or any lag issue you have, you should check SteamStatus[steamstat.us]. If there's nothing wrong with it, skip to the step 2.

Second

Check your internet connection. You can use SpeedTest or something else like that. Check if your internet connection are stable & good enough to play Dota 2.

Step by steps about how to check your internet connection without SpeedTest (SEA Server only) :

1. Open Command Prompt (CMD) by pressing Windows + R button on your keyboard and type "cmd" and press OK.
   
2. Type

   ping sgp-1.valve.net

   then press Enter
   
3. You should see something like

   Packet Sent = X, Received = X, Lost = X (X% loss)

   and

   Minimum = XX seconds, Maximum = XX seconds, Average = XX seconds

   Note : X = number(s).
   
4. Focus on the

   Lost = X (X% loss)

   &

   Average = XX seconds

5. If your

   Lost =/= 0 (0% loss)

   or your

   Average >= 100 seconds

   then forget it. Don't play Dota unless you want to play with a lag connection. Otherwise, go on the next step.
   
6. Now type

   ping sgp-2.valve.net

   then press Enter
   
7. Repeat the steps from number 3-5.
   
8. If you have 0 Loss & Average <= 100 seconds on both server, then you can play Dota.

Note : For other servers, please kindly read this thing.

Last

You should search some related articles about a possibility banned game on your own country.
For example :

And if you're from Philippines, i'd recommend you to check this first[outagereport.ph] before playing Dota.

Tips

1. If you've checked all of your network connection and if there's no problem with it but you still experiencing a lag issue, i'd suggest you to try another server like Japan, etc or don't play Dota until the issue is resolved.
   
2. If you want to check your FPS / Ping while you're in-game, simple. All you need to do is playing Arcade mode & try to play 1 turbo match / watching any of pro gameplay / tournament.

FYI, I'm playing at SEA Server and i don't experiencing any of lag issue in here.

So, please stop spamming thread about complaining any lag before you're doing some research about it.

Nah, its not the connection problem man. Almost all of us here in Philippines experience that. Even with different ISPs, plus, we can play fine in Japan server but it takes a toll on our ping. We get 90-100+ ping which makes it not enjoyable.

I think the internet infrastructure in the Phillipines is still unreliable and because in almost every match in SEA (and now Japan too) there is a player from the Phillipines with an unstable connection almost every match is affected. That's why the system tries to keep players with unstable connections (for whatever reasons) out of the game by banning those accounts progressively.

in japan im still not stable there. and yes packet loss go up to 90 like wtf.

Then it’s not the server, it’s your ISP / router / modem / connection.

I see. Yep i've read a lot of complaints since yesterday, and if im not mistaken mostly players from PH are experiencing this while other players from SEA are fine. Try checking dota 2 reddit for a better fix if you cant try japan server. Best of luck.
