Can you get banned for buying steam keys?
Heard there was recently a change where you can now get a community ban for buying keys off sites such as g2a, is that true? If so, is it permanent?

No.
There isn't even a way to track down which key was obtained from a grey market site without monitoring these grey market sites. The point is they are "re-"sellers, so the keys were obtained somewhere else first.

HOWEVER, game hubs are run however the people running it want it to. If you admit to buying a key this way or they find out otherwise, they can just ban you from this game's community. There have been cases were people have been banned for alleged piracy.

not when you know the right website and know the price of the game you wanna buy so you can look for a lower priced one
