Adult content verification
How steam verify the age of the user for adult and sex content? I have kids that uses steam, and now days the adult and sex content is getting bigger and bigger, is it linked to the account age? Because the only thing I can see is the age verification message.

I think it should be linked to the credit card owner age, and no one should be able to see such content unless there is credit card on record.

The verification is a joke, every kid can bypass it.

Verification is the same issue with everything adult related online though. It comes down to parents having to retain control of the computers until the kids are old enough that it is no longer an issue. Retain control does not have to mean no independent use at all for the kid, but it does mean the computer should not be in the child's bedroom and the parent should pay attention to what their child is doing often enough to notice anything untoward.

After all it is not just issues regarding pornography, but also online shopping, con men and false information sites... plenty of dangers parents should be actively helping their children guard against.

There is no way.... none... to 100% prove age over the internet. As the saying goes " Locks only keep honest people out " if someone underage wants to get access to Adult content they will get it. Kids can get access to their parents credit card... drivers ID... or any other info to bypass that.

It's time parents ( and I myself am a parent of two teens on Steam ) stop using the internet and places like Steam as a "free babysitting space" and keep control of their kids viewing content and what they are doing online, and stop trying to blame it on the world and what the world is doing.
Parenting is a responsibility that they shouldn't try to pawn off on others....

AO content is by default not visible in the store, you have to actively make a chance in the preferences of the account.

How do you verify that the account where the CC is linked to, actually is from an adult?

You should look into the family view setting for their accounts those will allow you to put limitations in place that they can't easily get past as long as you make sure they don't know the pin.

Steam is not allowed to save this data in many countries, neither has it any possibility to verify it on a global scale.

Steam displays an age gate where the user has to enter their birthdate.

all comes down to parents responsibility using the existing parental controls within Steam or the operating system and of course, looking after their kids.

I have many things to control what my kids see, but when steam started it was without Adult/Sex content, this is a new thing, and if it was only for "boobies" its fine, but its much much more, now its hardcore sex. steam now is not gaming site, its Adult/Sex gaming site, we try to take control as much as we can, but when a "gaming" site starts posting hardcore sex games. I am just asking, is there a way in steam to control this?

Yes it has... but Steam is just realizing that more ( or just as many ) adults play on Steam then kids... not to mention, the Adult(s) section is small in comparison to all the other games available.

And again, stop trying to pawn this off on Steam... start in your house, where control belongs.

i sincerly believe that most kids buy stuff on Steam together with their parents or their permission and that the stealing the credit card is a black sheep problem.

That does not mean you can't have a credit card linked to the account when you're younger. So again, how do you verify that the account the CC is linked to, actually is from an adult?

Its ok, I will change the preferences for the accounts and change the password for the accounts.
