When you say "private" are you saying "the company approves of this and gives you their blessing to create personal servers" or are you saying (the far more likely) "pirate servers" which aren't approved or implicitly acceptable?

Because I really would love MY favored mmo back here, but until NC gets off their bums and approves of it, that'll never happen.

If the company producing the game itself approves of such a thing, the only way this will have anythign to do with steam is if they put it here. Steam isn't in charge of that. The company making the game is.

I make it simple for you.

Yes, BUT only if the IP holders of that said games appoves of you doing a private server, and putting it on Steam, which they would expect either one of the following from you.

A. It's completely free, no donations, no selling microtransactions, no selling DLC's, basically no making money off of it, with it, or anything really, basically it's out of your own pocket really.

B. You give them their profit cut on all transactions, basically you and the IP holders agree on to allow you to do sales, which you would be signing contracts, and so on with the IP holder.

This is very uncommon, and very unlikely to happen just so you know, so I suggest you contact the IP holder 1st, before doing anything else with their content, which is very likely you might get deny.

Steam is never going to enable you to violate someone's copyright. If the developer says no, never responds, doesn't care, doesn't exist anymore, whatever, you're on your own. No other company is going to help you if they don't have the rights to the thing you want to do.

There are thousands of games on steam that is not owned by valve. All the dev has to do id pay the couple of hundred dollars to valve and their game can be on steam.

So you want Steam to take a pirated product, and post it so people here can use it? Is that what you're saying? Because that's really stupid to even THINK about, let alone *ask for* ....

Dude. Really.

OH THANKS guys...this is wonderful to know...

I thought I just ask cuz I heard something like this has been done or possible.
Zekiran May 22, 2019 @ 10:25pm
No, it has not. Steam does not enable piracy knowingly.
