Enough with the anime porn games!
Yknow, if steam wants to sell porn games, i got nothing against that, but please stop filling up my discovery queue with them. I have never once purchased or even shown interest in anime porn games or any other porn games, please stop trying to sell them to me. Indeed, every few months i go into the filters & tell it to block all anime games, all dating sims, and all porn games, but still they keep showing up in my discovery queue. I have no desire to watch bug-eyed teenage girls get raped by octopuses, please stop trying to sell that to me.

And did you uncheck 'Adult Only', and 'Nudity/Sexual content'

My issue with the whole thing is, I don't mind the games existing, I don't get why anyone would want it personally though, Each to their own. However I personally would never buy a game that doesn't even have a story or proper gameplay , the whole game is just to unlock pictures of naked cartoon characters. However if I block them out then any game with sexual content tends to get blocked with them , I like games with a story and if it has sexual content in it I'm fine with it. If I block anime for some reason my fav genre (jrpg) seems to be blocked with it too.

Yeah see the issue with that is i got no problem with games that happen to contain some nudity. Its the games where the nudity is the whole entire point of the game that i'd like to block. The "adults only" filter is a bit ovezealous in that regard.

I wish they'd just be honest & go ahead & make a "porn" tag. So that devs who are making porn can be honest about it & not hide behind broad phrases like "adult content" if its porn, call it porn & move on.

Well then the problem is clear. You need to, adjust your search methods so you aren't looking where you see all these games. Pretty easy. You're probnably just skimming the new releases or upcoming releases to be seeing any notable number of such games since you don't normally see such in the discovery, or on the storepage and I speak as someone who actually occasionally buys such games.

Steam just doesn't have a million mandatory/enforced categories, so if you want to rely on Steam blocking something for you, you must accept that it also blocks things you'd like to see.

Myself, I don't let Steam block anything, and use my own brain to decide whether I'm interested in a game or not.

And how many of these anime porn games do you come across?

I agree, this is grossly inappropriate for anime porn games to show up on the default storefront. children use Steam, and shouldn't be browsing through some horny neckbeard ♥♥♥♥.

I have no idea since I don't count games that I don't look into. It's not a lot, that's for sure -- I'm still seeing waaaaaaaaay more "RPG-maker" gmes than porn games.

Then its a good thing they do not. You actually have to enable them in your store preferences. THey are off by default.

If you're fine with nudity and non-explicit/graphic sexual content, but don't want to see porn, then just go into your preferences and uncheck the box next to "Adult Only Sexual Content" but leave the box next to "Nudity or Sexual Content" checked.

Games like, for example, The Witcher series will not be filtered out by doing that. For a game to be filtered out by the "adult only" filter it has to have the "adult only" banner on its store page, and I have yet to see a game with that banner that looks like it was incorrectly labeled.

I've been thinking that the way Steam filters games is a bit too imprecise. I'm not interested in adult content, but I do want to see visual novels. However, it feels like enabling the filters will filter out some games that don't have adult content.

You are all wasting your breath. It doesn't matter how easy to use the store preferences are, nor that the naughty stuff is hidden by default, or even that the algorithm shows you the kinds of games you have trained it to show you.

Magical mischievous gremlin creatures are obviously to blame for rendering all of the above moot, but for some peculiar reason, these mythical creatures are only targeting a small number of totally innocent, pure, and completely blameless victims...

It's the only logical explanation.

You obviously don't get the point, A human being programmed the algorithm it's not a 100% fail proof design, it has many flaws that clearly need worked out. I haven't once bought, liked or wishlisted any of anime or sexual only games yet they are getting recommended non stop, just because I like Japanese rpgs doesn't mean I'm obsessed with Japanese maids with no clothes on. Therefore why is the algorithm putting serious rpgs in with anime and porn games? Makes no sense.

Just checked my discovery queue, 5 of the games where "non English speaking" games, Never once bought or wishlisted a non English speaking game so far. so yeah I really don't think it's perfect like you're making it out to be.

Again, go to your preferences and uncheck the box next to "Adult Only Sexual Content," that'll get rid of the games that have the "adult only" banner on their store pages (AKA the "porn" games,) it won't filter out anything other than those games.
