Any game to learn playing guitar ?
Hello,

I have been looking on Steam for a while, and I have found games like Rocksmith and FourChords ans it says that you can learn how to play guitar with them... However, I am planning to get an Acoustic Guitar and I am wondering if there is any other game which is complete (i.e. teaches almost all the basics...) here on Steam except Rocksmith and FourChords.

I'd like to know this too.

An acoustic electric might be better for this though as you can't plug in an acoustic into the PC

Rocksmith to my knowledge supports acoustic guitars, you just need a microphone.

Rocksmith.

Just don't add all the DLC to your cart by accident.

i don't think playing a game helps you learn, what you need to learn is how to "gamify" playing guitar yourself, that's what worked for me and everything i know and do music-wise. find a way to make the learning process fun, i'd just use websites like songsterr or ultimateguitar, learn songs that i like, and that would take me to learn the techniques i needed for each one of them, this also worked for me because i'm very open and curious about everything in terms of music so i'm always learning new techniques, programs, instruments, theory, genres, etc - you've got to approach it that way if you want the best out of it, a game won't do that for you, maybe you'll learn to play the game, but will you be a musician at heart?

FWIW, the two Rocksmith products aren't 'games'. They legitimately teach you stuff. They figure out your level by having you play real music then throw songs at you with difficulty which increases as you progress.

They do have 'mini games', but I don't think it's really fair to describe the overall products as games.
as an avid guitar & bass player myself who has played Rocksmith, i personally didnt feel the game very accurate at all, it's ok, but it's very shallow and lacking in terms of playing, it throws the songs at you to play along but it doesnt emphasize learning proper technique or even reward you for playing accurately, there's plenty of rocksmith videos of people playing prodigy-level songs very badly on a realistic level while rocksmith praises them for perfect score, i don't know about you but i just don't find it accurate as a learning tool, maybe for fun, but for learning it'll leave gaps on the long run imo
