Are many people playing at 4K (CS source or TF2)
I just recently unlocked my account after 1500+ days away. My PC is now considerably better but I am staying loyal to CSS and TF2. Does anyone think it is worth running at 4K or just stay with 1920 by 1080 on my 4K monitor/TV.

Less then 2% of users are using 4K. A little less then 55% are uisng 1080.

I already put CSS back on and am downloading TF2 now. I know how good they look in 1920 by 1080 so know I won't be disappointed but as I have the extra power available I was just checking in to see if anyone had first hand experience and had an opinion.

playing TF2 on 4K is a bit like listening to Loney Toons on a $10,000 speaker. It can only look so good.

True. I will stick to 1920 x 1080 on TF2. No point in outputting in 4k for no extra gain. I do however remember that that style of graphics (very incredibles like) was harder to achieve than you may think so was more demanding than you would realise.

TS2 has nearly finished downloading so I will log out of this and take a good luck

Games, like shooters, it's more about your hardware you have. If your hardware can support 4K gaming, you're the judge on that matter.

Whatever you do don't buy into the hype (especially the 60fps vs 30fps stuff -- more so if you're not streaming).

I'm surprised by how few people use 1440p. It's my preferred resolution as it strikes a good balance between 1080p and 4k, but I guess it's probably seen as skippable by people and unlikely to gain popularity. My CPU choice also seems to be uncommon (5820k with six physical cores). When I decided on both of those two years ago, I thought they'd become the next "average" system. That didn't happen. Also surprised at how many people still use dual core CPUs. I suppose casual gamers make the vast majority of Steam customers.

I'd use it if I could afford a new monitor. I want to get a 21:9 monitor and those are often 1440p.

I'm not touching 4k until there's a 1ms, 144hz 4k monitor that my PC can hand out minimum 60fps to.

I have been playing 4k CSS Go on a 40 inch TV as a monitor. If you want to spend loads on a super fast 4k monitor by all means do so but I will save my cash
