Why can't we sell games?
Isn't selling a game on steam the same as selling a physical copy of the game?

You don't actually own the games you buy on Steam. You are buying the license to play those games on Steam. Which can be terminated by Valve at any time if they determine that the user has violated the Steam subscriber agreement.

not really, reselling a physical copy of a pc game today makes you a scammer in most cases.

Why does anybody buy games on steam when they could buy a physical re-sellable disc of the games then?

Because most online games have a game key that can only be registered to one account, meaning that after you use that key, the physical copy is worthless to everyone else.

^^ This. PC games have never been tradeable since the internet became a way to verify them.

Publishers are more willing to put their games on sale because they don't have to worry about the used game market cutting into their profits. Go to Gamestop and ask them if any of their games have a 75% or 90% discount, and see how hard they laugh.

Gamestop sells used games... Why can't I sell my single player games?

Because while the disk is re-sellable the key that activates the game or allows you to isntall it is non-transferable and one time use, or rather of limited uses.

That and not having to worry about the physical media being scratched or losing activation keys and whatnot. Plush, tends to be cheaper than the retail stores if you're willing to wait.

Because they are just digital licenses. There are no "used games" on Steam. You can't compare a physical game to a digital license and expect them to work the same way.

When you sell a game to Gamestop, they can re-sell it to someone else. Can't do that with a license.

with all the sales I don't see much reason why would I'd buy second hand digital games over getting it directly from the stores , the games are so cheap I don't need them to be even cheaper.

you also have to consider there is place like Humble Bundle that literraly ''give'' you away the games in exchange of a donation too , that would be messed up.

We can.

It is.

And you can begin developing a game, for starters. :DEALWITHIT:

You mean you can sell games you make? Why can't we sell single player offline games like Dark Souls?

Gamestop siphoning off billions in profit from the games market with their used sales practices is a horrible example to use in any situation.

Why would developers bother making games, they won't be profitable or worth making. You will also see a huge price hike as you see with console games. It's never going to happen.
