Why does Steam even sell movies?

It seems like they just try to hide them away, the prices aren't very competitive, and there isn't (to my knowledge) anything exclusive that stands out in any big way, and the actual streaming is awful. .

Was adding shows/movies a failed idea that they're trying to slowly phase out? Are they working on making it better?

I have many friends that love the anime shows and buy a lot of them and they have no problem with the steaming so it's prob you and it's not a failed project as new stuff is added, they also need the rights to add them so takes time to get new stuff.

It's not likely me though. I can stream anything else. That's how I watch anything else and I've heard from multiple people that they have the same problems I do with it, having to do with: Stuttering, causing Steam to freeze and or crash, and artifactings.

I do remember when Steam videos did the stuttering problem, I thought that was fixed. I think there was a sort of fix for that in the Help and Tips section if I'm not mistaken.

The prices are good and they get discounts here and there too. I do agree with the video problem tho it will hurt movies/shows in the long run if they don't fix the video/streaming problem as I said above it's been here for years, tho it happen to some and not others.

It's not great though. I can go to the video store (yeah those still exist some places) and pick one up on a rental for a third of the price. Convenience sure but I don't see why that should jack the price up so much more.

It's a niche market segment, not meant to be a mainstream profit maker.
