I can see why they say no refund

I feel like I've been tricked. VHS video quality. Bad subtitles. Buggy video player that crashes. No video player options at all. Streaming only. Computer only.

This was my first video purcahse from Steam. And my last.

Apologies for the subtitle issues. It was a problem in the source content that was provided to Steam, should be much better now.

I'm interested to know about the crashes you experienced. Do you have any more details on what happened?

Two monitor setup. 60Mhz refreash. 1980x1080 on both monitors. Windows 10. GTX 1050 Ti. HDMI and DVI->HDMI outputs. Up to date drivers and software.

CTD occurs during alt tabs between borderless windowed applications. CTD throws no error just closes out.

Fix was disabling hardware video decoding. Nothing thrown to Event Viewer.

Ah yes, the hardware video decoding issue. Sometimes that causes green blocks to appear, sometimes worse. The video player doesn't actually make use of the hardware video decoding but somehow the drivers seem to get in the way.

That's fantastic. I'm skeptical of what the partners will allow to be downloaded, though. I just hope you get around to video apps for other platforms.

Are you using any of Blink? Because if you are that is a known troublemaker with this box. I'd have to dig up old logs to see what the fix was.

For this just disabling hardware acceleration within Steams settings seemed to have fixed it, but judging by your responce that option isn't being used by the web player.

Yes disabling should fix it. The player doesn't use the hardware acceleration but when it's enabled, the video renderer starts up differently which is what triggers various issues. Anyway glad it's working for you now.

I'm not sure if the problem is related but could you please do something about GitS SAC 2nd GIG subs? They're awful. If possible I'd like them, at least, not to jump all over the bottom of the screen. It's really frustrating.

this movie was released back in november of 1995 when VHS was still a thing. so i dont know why your complaining about it being in bad quality.

Just because it was originally released on VHS in 1995 doesn't mean they haven't redone and remaster the released numourus times since then. Hell they released an enhanced DVD version in 1998. In 2017 through a digital platform, I expect at least that quality.
