[for developers] Are you required to have a company name when you upload a game to steam?
so ive been working on a little obscure game that i have been making for the past year now all by myself but do you HAVE to create some stupid company name? or if i gave steam the game through...however direct would work, can i just use my real name instead? (I mean i guess you can argue that your name IS your company name)

Here's all the info: https://partner.steamgames.com/steamdirect

You can sign up as a sole trader / individual.

If you were to use a company name, you can't just make up a company name, you would actually have to form a company.

you are required to have a registered business ... alone for the tax purposes you are required to have this.

I think some users get around this by creating a separate account to upload their games. So you could submit as an individual but have Super Cool Inc. or whatever as your username.

Of course, if you have questions you should check the documentation. You can ask here if you're unsure and it's not clearly covered by the support documentation.
