Looking to Buy
I'm very interested in buying this trilogy as it's currently 75% off (i.e. $9.99) here on Steam, but from what I can gather in reviews there seem to be some technical issues. Specifically:

- Movement control bugs ("ice walking")
- FPS impacting jumping and/or flight, rendering certain sections unbeatable
- Steam Cloud Save issues resulting in loss of save data / progress

I don't think the FPS thing is going to affect me, because I'm not one of those gamers who needs to push FPS to absurd levels like 240 (honestly I'm perfectly happy playing at 30FPS, which apparently eliminates the FPS-related bugs).

I also read a comment here on the forum saying that if you disable Steam Cloud Save, then the related bug will not affect me.

So my question is: do I have this information right, and are there any other known serious problems with the PC ports for these games? I'm really hoping I can pick this up in good conscience and not expect to have a completely broken experience. The reviews are almost all positive, after all.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah those problems are real, but thankfully that's all the issues. If you keep the FPS to 60 you'll only have one problem with a single Spyro 1 level, but just change the fps to 30 and finish the section and put it back to 60. The ice walking doesn't happen if you keep the fps to 60 too, or if it does its so small that I never felt like something was wrong.

I have steam cloud and have not had any problems with save files, and I've played all three games multiple times on multiple files so that might have been fixed.

The only other bugs I can really think of is the loading times in Spyro 1 are bugged to load as slow as the ps4/xbox version, a little annoying but it only happens when you go into a portal the first time, you can travel back to any level and the loading is much faster. This is also only a problem in Spyro 1, the other games load fast.

Sometimes Sparx (the dragonfly that's your health) picks up gems for you, but very rarely he wont pick up a gem and you'll have to have Spyro run into it to collect it, but again, a little annoying is the worst it gets.

Other than those little things they did a really good job with the remakes and for 10 bucks it's an absolute steal, if you click the control stick Sparx will point you to any gems you missed so you don't run around looking forever, very useful and I don't think the game tell's you about it if you start with the first game.

yes ice walking is a thing but other than that no issues so far. this is my first play through on pc though. beaten on switch and xbox
Awesome, thanks for the answers guys!
The save bug never affected me, but if you want to be safe, every time you are about to stop playing the game, use ALT+TAB and make a manual backup of your save file. That way you can recover your current save file if the game overwrite it with a old save file. Go to both save folders and check wich "FalconSave.106.sav" file has the larger size, it should be your current save.

- Steam save folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<YOUR STEAM ID>\996580\remote\Falcon\Saved\SaveGames
- AppData save folder (this is a hidden folder):
C:\Users\<WINDOWS USER>\AppData\Local\Falcon\Saved\SaveGames

-spyro is sliding like on ice if you play over 120fps
-the jump height is affected slightly but can be alleviated with an ini edit (found out myself)
-you can play on 30 but personally I did not see any problem on 90 (on 60 the magic of the wizards will fail)

I'll be making use of that, thanks very much for the info.

Okay I'm legit not sure what you mean by "the magic of the wizards" lmao, are you referring to an FPS meme, or the door in Alpine Ridge that doesn't open? I faintly recall from my childhood that this level involves wizards.
Exactly, the wizards lift a staircase and a gate. At 60fps, the wizards are broken and won't properly work. Spyro 2 is perfect at 60fps, just finished the campaign moments ago. Not sure about Spyro 3 though.

Well honestly, I'll probably just set it at 30 and not worry too much about it. I really don't care that much about high FPS, as long as it's not below 30.

I have 120% in Spyro 1 and 100% Spyro 2, locked at 120fps in the options. It run perfectly on my 240hz monitor.
I downloaded 'flawless widescreen' to get a higher field of view. The controls are perfect, It's night and day compared to the xbox version. The console version gives you tunnel vision and have a realy bad camera motion due to the 30fps. Maybe people find it great, but once you use 120fps you don't want to go back to 30fps. Movements are more pronounced and more enjoyable.
