Spyro 2 is fun, although it's also when they started to experiment and expand the game, so I can understand why not everyone might like it. It has its flaws, but I still enjoy the game.
Now, Spyro 3 on the other hand... So much content creep. If you thought Spyro 2 was full of unfun actives, I can only imagine how you'd feel about 3. Still a good game, mind you, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did they cram a bunch of random stuff in there of varying levels of quality.
The best answer, I think spyro 1 is the best, 2 comes next with new mechanics and ideas, renewing the game, 3 isn't as fun as 1 and didn't innovate as much compared to 2 but that doesn't make it a bad game.
I got all the achievements from 1 and 2 and I'm now finishing 3, in short it's one of the best remakes ever made and one of the best games, simple but it has its challenges and has the magic of losing yourself in fun that many games don't have nowadays.
Donkey Kong Country is similar. I like the first for the exact same reason. 2 introduces a bit more than I want. Some people like 2 though, because it does have more things to do.
imo, it's the worst entry in the remake. It's fine for one playthrough to see all the cool stuff they did with it but outside of that it feels like a slog. The whole game is missing a lot of what the original delivered and i can't put my finger on it. It's like super mario 64 ds, it's a remake but it somehow is nothing like the original experience.
of the originals i'd say the games best to least best is 2>1>3, but for the remake somehow it's 1>3>2. (don't ask me why but i hated 3 when it came out but i enjoyed it a bunch in the remake.
