Spyro 2 offends me as a European.
It should say gateway to glimmer, not Ripto's Rage! Very disappointing.

Not to mention "Gateway to Glimmer" just makes more sense in general. It's SPYRO's Gateway to Glimmer, thus how he ended up in the world of Avalar. Furthermore, what does "Ripto's Rage" have to do with Spyro's quest? Even then, all Ripto does is take over a few castles and does nothing with them. Ripto barely does anything besides yells and make threats to the main characters.

As an Aussie myself, it should also be called "Gateway to Glimmer" here, just like all PAL versions did back on PS1. As a side note, a lot of PAL versions got better names for a lot of other games too, not just this one.
ripto's rage makes 10000% more sense as an American myself.
Yea, Gateway to Glimmer has always made much more sense to me.

I mean, Ripto rages again in Enter the Dragonfly anyway. Lmao.

but then you get to contract a STD from a dragonfly, totally different from regular raging.

Hm. I suppose, point taken.

// I actually thought for a second you meant a Sexually Transmitted Disease from a dragonfly....wow nova, wow.

If you count him taking out Crush and Gulp with one hit with his sceptre, then I suppose he rages again. Even then, the plot was also very similar (and better) in Season of Flame on GBA, only there you actually have to take out his henchmen as well as Ripto.
"Ripto's Rage" sounds like it was part of that stupid fad where everyone was tacking "extreme" onto everything. "Gateway to Glimmer" sounds more timeless.

your disappointing peanut
You guys do realize this game was made by Americans, right? The original name for it is Ripto's Rage. I personally like both names, but Ripto's Rage definitely appeals much better to the American 90's audience this game was sold to back in the day. I never really understood why the name was changed in the first place though.

The Jak and Daxter trilogy on PS2 was made by Naughty Dog which is an American studio yet the European and Australian versions of these games used the European spelling on a lot of words in both menus and subtitles. The original Spyro 2 also used European spelling in the PAL version.

I know it's minor, but it's still more effort than a simple game title.
Glimmer is just one stage that you leave within a couple of minutes why would the game be named after one stage? That's like calling Ratchet and Clank 2: Going Commando, Ratchet and Clank: Planet Aranos

The reason for Glimmer's importance is due to it basically being the "Gateway" to Glimmer, the entry point in the story. How else does Spyro reach the world of Avalar? That's what's so special about Glimmer, even if it's just one stage.

Also, you visit Aranos in R&C2 much later on in the story. FYI R&C2 is known by the Locked and Loaded subtitle in Australia.
Woke: Spyro 2: In search of the talismans
Thats the Spanish name (en busca de los talismanes) lmao

Actually R&C2's (And 3's) subtitle was changed internationally because of the innuendos that exist in the American subtitles

Up your Arsenal and Going Commando were awesome names and should not have been changed.
