FPS CAP
To be honest, I can get used to 30FPS, but can you play MOST of the game at 144 without too many bugs?

Yes and no. With a framerate above 120fps Spyro can slide on the ground. So you will need to stay at 120 fps limit if you wanna avoid that bug. Also do not use the in game FPS cap for 50, 60, or 120 fps, it's bugged. Leave at Unlimited. Use your GPU or RivaTurner Statistic Server (RTSS) to cap your framerate at 120 maximum.

Apart from that, the game is fully functional with frame rates between 60 and 120, there is no need to play at 30 frames.

All I needed to hear. Played this game on the PS4 and it was super fun. I can't wait to play them again.

same here, i was under the impression the game was broken above 60 fps.

There's no mention of framerate locked physics events in "Alpine Ridge" - I believe it was called that prevents further progression,

and I also read you'll need to set your fps back to 30 in order for a Druid to open a gate or something.

If we set the GPU to 60, then back to 30 when necessary, would that work?

My main concern with not playing this is all the talk about a 'bad console port locked to 30 frames'

The problem with Alpine Ridge, it's related with the in game FPS cap with 50, 60 and 120. If you use it, the gates may never open. That can be solved by selecting Unlimited and leaving the V-Sync ON, or with the use of a external FPS cap like your GPU or RTSS. The gate/bridge may still bug by some cicles, but it will resolve by itself if you wait another mage cicle. Therefore, there's no need at all to play this collection with a 30 fps cap.

Awesome dude.
Thanks very much

I like sliding around though

You do also jump higher at 30fps than 60 or 144. This can make the difference between reaching an area or not so sometimes it's necessary to temporarily switch.

The jump is only slightly higher. It's still perfectly possible to play at 60 or 120 frames. What a lot of people forget is that running before performing a jump causes Spyro to propel itself forward resulting in a greater distance. That make the difference sometimes.

Personally, I've tried playing at every framerate option for extended periods and found that nothing worked short of downgrading to 30FPS. The druid that never lowers his wall had me stumped for 10 minutes, thinking I must be missing something, and there are numerous jumps I must've tried half-a-dozen times to no avail. (And I played these to 100% as a kid, so it's not like I don't know the tricks.)

Maybe the external tool settings makes a difference, I haven't touched any of that, but for my setup, no combination of internal game settings has worked.

I will say that playing it at 60FPS+ before downgrading to 30FPS has made the experience worse though. If you don't mind 30FPS, you can stick there and never have to think about any of this.

EDIT: Another thing I've noticed, and others have suggested, is that egg thieves are marginally faster at higher frame rates. I just "fought" Gnasty Gnorc and both he and the two thieves in that level were regularly outpacing me. (Yes, I died three times to what should have been a breeze-- but only because I was cutting corners to shave time off the laps chasing Gnorc, and falling in. After dropping to 30FPS, I caught all of them in 1-2 laps.)

Haven't had in frame troubles at all.
