Spyro 1 Dream Weavers Cannon Issue

So I'm just putting this up to see if anyone else has had this issue, I've been 100%ing the game so far but once I started on Dream Weavers I ran into an issue, When trying to hit the 2 Big Armored guys with the magic cannon it only homes in on the one on the right. I spent about 10 minutes just testing every angle I could but it would either shoot short and not home or immediately home in on the right. Dunno if it's a bug or just a really specific angle but I can't not 100% these games so it's bothering me.

Unsure if you ever managed to do it.
Aim the cannon slightly off to the left, that should do the trick. This is what I had to do.

Besides aiming more carefully, there's 2 more solutions:
1. Hit the right one, go kill it, then circle back and use the cannon again.
2. After entering Dream Weavers, never approach the two armored guys. Go straight for the cannon and kill the operator. The stair guards will still be small.
