cheats not working?

Was trying to use the 99 lives cheat for the tree tops level but it wouldn't work. I tried entering it with both keyboard and controller(xbox), but I still only had 5 lives. What gives?

Try resetting your control config, saving it, and then trying it again. I couldn't get the sunglasses cheat rolling until I reset the controls to default, and I didn't even change the buttons needed to punch in the code.

I just reset the controls in-game (even though I never changed them at all) and it started working afterwards.

Still not working, have tried resetting the controls, in spite of never changing them in the first place. Have tried both controller and keyboard to no avail. Am I missing something.

Try again with the keyboard, but press the sequence faster. I had a similar problem, and at least for me, it worked.
