Feeling motion sickness?
Bit of a weird thing.
I got this and the N Sane Trilogy at the same time for the sale. Crash I have no problems with, but with this game... I get weird and very uncomfortable motion sickness in my stomach when playing for more than 30 minutes. It's really nauseating.

That said, it seems more pronounced in Spyro 1 than 3 from what I've played so far, and it gets particularly bad during periods of prolonged dashing - which you have to be in to catch egg thieves half the time.

Does anyone else experience anything like this?

I'm not too sure, but that may just be because of my experience with all three of these games that I don't know what could be causing it. Is it because of the motion blur? Even if you turn it off via the options menu, there's still a little bit of secondary motion blur for some unknown reason. The original PS1 versions of these games never had any motion blur whatsoever and felt easier on the eyes for me because of it.

Does this occur in other parts of the game as well? The speedway levels in particular have you flying around in different directions, as well as some of Spyro 2's mini-games.

So far I've noticed it primarily when I have to run around (so speedways) and also when doing the skateboarding levels. It doesn't seem to come up when doing aquatic levels in 3, which I suspect is because the underwater motion is slower.

Again, I'm no expert on motion blur as I haven't played that many 8th gen games so I can't say for sure. All I know from a small handful of online videos I've seen is that it consistently makes games look worse whenever you rotate the camera or even move around in some cases, whereas not a single PS1 or PS2 game I played had any form of motion blur whatsoever.

I am going to refund it if possible because it makes me so nauseous :( I played about an hour and a half and now feel really sick like my head is spinning and stomach is uncomfortable. It looks really fun though for people who don't get affected with it!

Motion blur started to blow up when the PS2 came out, the GTA games on PS2 had motion blur, MGS2 has motion blur, ICO had motion blur, and SOTC had the effect (also tried mimicking high end motion blur techniques as well). There are more games with PS2 motion blur but we'd be here for a while.

Huh. I guess either I didn't notice it much or the effects were so minor they didn't bother me much at all. And the GTA games on PS2 actually let you turn trails off from the options menu which drastically reduced motion blur. Maybe it's just that the graphics back then weren't nearly as technically advanced as they are now so it's easier to overlook when the graphics were much simpler compared to today's technology.

As someone who also suffers from motion sickness I've done a lot of experimenting with different games to resolve motion sickness issues.

Here are a few things I recommend trying that usually fix problems for me...

-Try playing in windowed mode at a lower resolution (test multiple sizes)
-Sit further away from your screen
-Turn off motion blur
-Invest in motion sickness bands for your arms.

This is the most important for me.
Started playing yesterday and for the first 30 min it felt really uncomfortable.
Like on the brink of being motion sick all the time.
Then i turned off motion blur in the graphic options and no problems since then.

The motion blur in this game is really strong and makes every fast camera movement an ordeal.

Always check to see if a game has motion blur if it makes you sick, or uncomfortable, and disable it if it does and allows you to.

I can feel it too

Unfortunately feeling the same on my end.

I had a condition that made me pretty prone towards motion sickness, but that has already been sorted. Games that used to make me nauseous do not do it anymore. Sadly, the camera on this one seems to do it for some reason. I already tried disabling motion blur, but still getting the same motion sickness after 30 minutes playing.

I have the originals in PS1 and I do not have this problem playing those.

Maybe changing the Field of View (FoV) will be better for you?
