Speedways Spyro 2.
The worst I have ever played. A cluttered mess beyond imagination, why did I used to enjoy these when I young? they're just annoying made even more annoying now with the terrible hitbox of Spyro's fire breath and don't get me started on the water the way an invisible unknown force causes you to crash into it. I love Spyro don't get me wrong but why do these stages exist again? can they not just oh Idk disappear from existence?

I dunno. Maybe it's due to some of the changes made in the Reignited Trilogy? I remember having the same issue as you did with the speedways, only for Spyro 1 and not 2, so I popped in the original Spyro 1 to see if my memory was being messed with, but no, I beat them on PS1 just fine as I always did all those years back.

I can't recall if 2 was like this as well, but what I do know is that they aren't nearly as bad on the PS1 original either. At least in Spyro 3's speedways, all the obstacles you need to clear follow a set path so it's impossible to get lost.

It's been many years since I played Spyro 3 but I do remember those races where you had to use stars to get a speed boost. I am NOT looking forward to those.

Nah I think it's my age and slower reaction times lmao. Admittedly I was ranting when I typed this so don't take everything I said here seriously.

I made a few mistakes here and there and still beat them. Not to mention it's a bit harder to stuff up on Spyro 3's speedways due to the fact that all the obstacles follow a linear pattern unlike 1 and 2's.

Or do you mean the races? Because those can get quite tough at times, especially in the original when the dynamic difficulty makes the racing sections a lot harder. Fail three times, however, and the difficulty will go back down making it a bit easier (original only).

I'm trying to clear the normal speedways atm in Spyro 2 and they're literally driving me insane. Yet again just now I've had to stop playing because of frustration. They're just not enjoyable at all and adding to the fact the hitbox for Spyro's fire breath is completely broken too only adds to the frustration even more.

I fail to see what is hard about them. I can beat them easily with k+m. Yes, hitbox is different, but all you need to do is to "rewire" your brain. The only real problem is the water, but only because how camera works (Ocean Speedway comes to mind), but even that is manageable. I can show you how it's done if you're interested.

They're not bad as such they're just very cluttered. At least with the Speedways in Spyro 1 they were well designed but in Spyro 2? not so much. Just my opinion on them.
the speedways in general are just horrible across all the games, they should have just got rid of them.

The only speedways in all the games I genuinely disliked were the ones in Spyro Season of Ice on the GBA - that system's limitations combined with how they were structured in that game just do not work with this style of play at all, and that's coming from someone that loves the speedways in these games.

I always hated the speedway levels even on the originals. They are INCREDIBLY difficult compared to the rest of the game, plus I HATE timers. they really should have an option to disable the timer if you fail it a number of times in a row...

They were easy then and they are easy now.

Maybe for you. Apparently that’s the sort of thing you are good at.

Those races are doable in the ps1 version but those speedway races here are very very badly redesigned. I still remember for the ps1 version, as long as you hit those speed boost, you're guaranteed to win but here, I hit every single speed boost and didnt even come close to getting in 2nd or 3rd place which is BS.

You're playing it wrong then.

A big part of that is that for some reason, hitting the boosts in the Reignited version also alters your directional movement during a boost which can throw you off a bit, while in the original game it only increased your speed without hindering movement. The OG game also had a dynamic difficulty feature which was removed in the Reignited Trilogy version.
