Why the Sorceress is my favourite villain in the series
Even playing these games growing up, I always thought of the Sorceress as the most menacing, threatening and evil villain in the series and I'm about to explain why.

While Spyro doesn't interact with the Sorceress once, never taunting her in any way or anything, the player (you) have a full understanding of her plans and why you really want to stop her from succeeding in her plans. There's actual depth to her character and she actually has a very good reason to steal all of the dragon eggs and scatter them across the worlds, and as the plot thickens later on, I, as a player, actually felt immersed in the story, its characters and the worlds it took place in.

Gnasty Gnorc was a simple, generic villain that despite having a reason for doing what he does, had no real character or development beyond generic bad guy number 64, while Ripto felt like an all style, no substance villain that, despite having some good character moments, felt like a disconnect between the player and the story and didn't really do all that much besides take over a few castles and doing nothing with them.

None of this is me looking back at these games many years later. This was what I thought even at the time, even at a younger age. While Spyro 1 and 2 felt like they were testing the waters to experiment and figure out what worked best for the series, Spyro 3 felt like combining the best of 1 and 2 to bring out the absolute best, most polished experience possible, not just in gameplay, but story as well. Year of the Dragon's plot wasn't afraid to take itself seriously at all while still feeling like a cartoon kids and adults could enjoy and get something out of. I always thought this, and I still do.
