Unable to open skill point menu in Spyro 3

Having just 100% completed spyro 2 I was pleased to see there is now an actual menu for skills, and I can see that it is in Spyro 3 as well, but when I try to open the skills menu with L Ctrl, it instead tries to teleport me to a world as L Ctrl is also the button for select, if I don't have a world selected then it selects the first world. I suspect if I had a controller connected then it would work but the only type of controller I have is the ps1 controller which I strongly suspect isn't supported.

If I were able to reassign the select or open skill point menu it would help but the keyboard control menu only allows changing game controls, not menu or gui controls.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
