I made the jump to PC for most of my gaming once you had to start downloading all your games. I figured if I had to download all my games anyway, I'd just do so on PC where I'll can set my own specs and upgrade as needed with minimal effort. We also have the upside of consolidating our catalog to one platform.
There aren't enough worthwhile exclusives these days that warrant purchasing consoles, imo.
I give nintendo props for being able to buy a game, come home and play. No bull$hit - besides their absurd gimmiks.
The NES all the way up to the PS2 was basically just that. Whereas today's consoles I feel have lost whatever advantages they used to have and are just trying to be inferior PCs instead of consoles. Even the Switch version of Reignited Trilogy requires a download for the physical version to play the whole game for example, which is exactly why people made such a big deal out of it. Why do we need a download for a physical version? Doesn't that defeat the purpose? Hence why I bought it digitally.
Yikes. I'll avoid those switch games. I bought the switch, but I'm mainly in it for zelda, metroid and a few other franchises. Nintendo doesn't like to share, so you pretty much have to buy their console(s). A bit disappointed with the switch since it's so underpowered. It can play most games fine, but that bad boy gets pretty toasty and can choke on a few of their games with regards to a stable fps.
Even though the gaming industry has changed a lot, Nintendo has done a decent job (besides their gimmicks) of somewhat preserving that hard to explain feeling that we all had when we played our first game on the NES. For me, it was Dragon Warrior.
For awhile, there were a lot of good games coming out on most consoles, but now it's pretty stagnant. Nintendo is the turtle that just chugs along and stays pretty consistent and provides some good titles. They need to port some of their DS titles to the switch, imo.
A lot of sports games on Switch are like that too - data downloads required to play despite getting a physical copy and it's even worse there as the file downloads are often so big you need a microSD card just to play them.
