Corrupt update files
So, I've been trying to reinstall these games after a computer crash (had to reinstall my O.S.) However, on finishing the download, Steam says "Corrupt Update Files". The following are solutions I've attempted:

Installing to a different location: (had a feeling the drive was going bad, due to the aforementioned computer crash)
Disabling internet security software (antivirus, vpn, etc)
Verifying game file integrity.

Unfortunately, none of those fixed the problem. One thing I just noticed though is that Steam doesn't seem to be downloading the entire game. Last time the game worked, it took about 61gb of storage. However, this fresh install only downloads a little over half that (Steam says it's about 38gb). Can you think of any possible fix?

It should be noted: I am running this on Linux, with Proton. System specs are below:

O.S.: Ubuntu Mate 18.04
C.P.U.: Ryzen 7 1700 at 3.1ghz
G.P.U.: Radeon RX 570
Memory: 32gb at 3000mhz.

hello,

Linux I see. It might be a problem with your NTFS-partition. Try to mount it with these options in .../etc/fstab file:
defaults,exec,uid=1000,gid=1000

you can find more info here, https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/4800
more specifically that post, https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/4800#issuecomment-271763278

one way or another but "corrupt update files" has nothing to do with a particular game, but with Steam itself - either its installation is broken and you need to reinstall it, or delete appcache folder, or something is blocking Steam from normal work, or issue with your account (a cool trick - create a blank account, open Steam client, log in, browse Store a little to populate your cache, log off, log in into your primary account - it fixes 80% of all Steam related issues)

by the way, it could also be a fault RAM stick - I have seen few topics with people claiming that and it makes sense, giving how Steam's VAC protection works

not sure about Linux, but Windows version is about 38GB, true

I apologize for replying so late.

Actually, I don't have an NTFS partition. Most Linux installers default to ext4 for the main partitions. Unfortunately, I don't know much beyond that about partitioning for Linux so, I just stick with defaults.

I've tried both of those. Neither of them worked.

Although, it just occurred to me that I haven't seen what the terminal says about it, if it says anything. Will update, if it says anything beyond the usual stuff.
