I assume you meant give money now so you DON'T later? The tactic clearly increases sales or companies wouldn't do it for digital goods. I can also list quite a few pre-purchase positives (for both consumer and retail) but what harm does it do exactly?

No, no, no. You see, if you give them money now before the game is released, that means that others will give them more money after the game is released. Because in the logic of the marketing brainlets this makes perfect sense, because when they put the numbers on the excel spreadsheet it makes a happy face. If you have 20 sales in total and 5 of those were preorders and 15 were bought after the release, then voila, you have triple the sales.

That game gave you the classic 'Rayman 2' as a steam game.
Just for Spyro we'd obviously have the original three games as bonus games.

The original Spyro games were only on PS1 and there is no chance they will release them bundled with an emulator.
