Yeah, Senzaru really dropped the ball on that one. The physics are all over the place, and there really doesn't seems to be any real sense of consistency.
Spyro 3 looks less like they were trying to make an actual Spyro game and more trying to shoe-horn in as many mini-games and ♥♥♥♥ as possible.

The skateboarding was definitely.... interesting.

wait till you get to the skateboarding race minigame in the super bonus world. you will truly know the agony of the skateboard..... not the race itself, but apparently, the edges of certain ramps, like, where you'd put siderails, are halfpipes..... yeah....

for someone who played spyro 3 at the time, what is different from the original with the skateboard?

because in my memories of spyro 3 on ps1 skateboard was really fun

Basically like Ratchet and Clank going commando.

The controls suck, you "wipe out" over none existent bumps, lets not forget when you do a back flip/front flip spyro sometimes raindomly turns sideways thus causing a wipe out, this is to name a few.

I even noticed this in sunny villas course

Does anyone have any pointers to beat the track record in the Lost Fleet stage? It's the only skill point keeping me from absolute completion. I've tried it too many times to count and even had a session where I retried the stage so many times that the background music stopped and the enemy crab death noises no longer played. Every time I get a good run, the wonky physics destroys it (ledge suddenly becomes a half-pipe, Spyro randomly doesn't jump as far, Spyro randomly jumps too far, random spot on track suddenly wipes me out, Spyro takes an immediate left turn after a jump, etc.). I'm tired of doing it, and would love to wait for a patch to hopefully fix it, but I highly doubt that's going to happen.

Yes! 100% yes! That Lost Fleet track record was especially awful. The skateboard simply is not consistent and does random things constantly. Heavily unpolished minigame, and easily the worst experience of this trilogy.

Agreed skateboarding is a chore instead of fun

I don't know if it is a bug or something but I don''t remember this happening in the original. In the original it was hard beating the skating records, or at least, you had to pull a lot of tricks and not repeat them.

In this one, at least on Sunny Villa, we got in the middle of the half pipes and kept going back and forth, pulling "orange crush"'s and spyro seemed to get HIGHER each time, so it was easier and easier to do the tricks. Ended up with a score of 10000 aprox. just doing that and we even wasted a minute just waiting for time to run out.

Well they were testing the waters in the Spyro 3 more than anything else. Though the skateboarding is more enjoyable than Shiela's stomp (due to being forced into place).

No way. At least Shiela’s abilities work consistently. The skateboarding just straight buggy and unreliable. I hear the original PSX game was not like that, but in this remake trilogy it is absolutely, unacceptably bad.

I finally got to the third game.. and good god they took so much away from skateboarding in this game, you can't do tricks wherever you want, you have to use the ramp, the board can straight up break when you land it perfectly level, where the old game gave you a lot of grace. This is just terribly designed on their part.
