Gulp boss fight in Spyro 2 is insane
It's way harder than anything else in the game. I don't understand how I managed to beat Gulp on console, I just can't do it again. Gulp has a ton of energy and insane aim with the electric balls.

Keep walking to the left, when he fires, turn to the right. Keep zigzagging

I can avoid the two shots, but later the four (or is it five) are really hard. And basically this boss fight is about waiting for a good RNG from the eggs.

In orginal game this boss was kinda easy... It's insane in reignated...
Ok. I finally beat him. Try to do small circles when he fires. He should miss all of his shots.

he shoots in front of where you're currently running. take small steps and keep a rocket in your mouth to push two HP at once.

I just checked PS1 Gulp. He really becomes harder. Now it's harder to avoid electric balls and when he tries to squash Spyro, you can't just run away from him (like in PS1), you need to change direction when he's close. And it seems like now you need to wait a bit longer between RNG eggs drops.
Edit: it's harder to avoid electric balls when you charging. If you just moving around, it becomes very easy.

The best way to beat Gulp is to outflank him. Trick the AI and lure it to where you are and when he is about to jump on Spyro. Move quickly to avoid getting squashed. I tend to lose a few rounds on purpose then when I learn the AI pattens. I then exploit its weaknesses and use that to win the fight. Keep practicing and good luck.

Seems like itll be quite tough to get that skill point there

Not really, either wait til you got the Superflame powerup or just juke Gulp, go right when he fires left and vice versa if slow down and let him jump then speed away, don't let him snag powerups

It's a prediction system. Watch the cannons. If they rise, walk left then walk right until he's done firing. If done correctly, he will fire to your side. Only move when he's not firing. Or he charges.

Using Spyro's combat roll to the left and right helps avoid the electric bolts. Additionally, if you're hunting for the Skill Achievement just come back to fight him, Ripto, and Crush when you have completed Dragon Shores. CHEESE THOSE FIGHTS!

I beat this the other day with a friend, we got the skill point though we wasted like 20 lives (and we didn't wanna cheese it with the superflame)
When gulp charges, instead of running away from him like in the original, just charge towards him, he jumps over you and misses completely.
Also when he shoots his energy balls, just run in circles, they aim where you are going to be so this should make them all miss. Also you can jump and they will go flying towards the air.

Still hard though (getting the skill point, not beating him)
