Mine just stays black on fullscreen. Any ideas?

I see most people here talking about FPS problems or the game not starting at all. But mine will start, and just ... remain black. Not like I can get into the options menu to fix this, because it's black. I can hear sound and I can press buttons. But he black.

Competently uninstall driver and install latest driver with "clean install" selected. Make sure you don't have anything like Discored running in the background or any overlay software like OBS. Reboot your system.

What are your hardware specifications and do you have a multimonitor setup?

Is your system up to date and do you have the latest graphics driver?

Try to press alt + enter (while in the game) or tab to the game window with alt + tab.

Verify your games files or reinstall your redistributables to run:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist

Make sure to run both vcredist 2015 (x86 + x64) and the DirectX installation.

GTX1070. i7 4790. 8 gigs of ram. (That one badly needs an upgrade but hey, money.) I have a single monitor. EDIT: And Windows 10. To my knowledge it's been updating automatically frequently.

Updated my NVIDIA drivers just now. Has had no effect.

You can bet that alt+enter was one of the first things I tried but it just has no effect. The game just ... makes menu sounds. Alt+tab I can do pretty freely, but I'm just alt+tabbing between my desktop, and a black fullscreen.

I've reinstalled the game outright once already. No effect as of yet.

Just ran those installations and rebooted. Still unfortunately the same boat.


I've at least tried locating the games config files to maybe force it to windowed mode on launch but no luck there. If you know where those are.

I have a GTX 1060 and I was able to run it fine. Not sure what else I can suggest. I could use teamviewer to try and help you directly but I might also have to charge you as well. Something to consider.

I had this problem too, it would go to a black screen after loading the unreal splash screen so I couldn't play the game.

Try this,

1) Go to:

This hasn't worked, but it's a good idea. Are you able to set your game to like, windowed/borderless mode and give me those settings?

EDIt: WAIT, editing the resolutions to my monitors native has fixed it. Thanks my dude.
