Easter Egg hunts are just a means of padding out the gameplay time anyway.
I'm not a completionist by any stretch of the imagination. So if something takes me more than a couple minutes to figure out, and it's not getting me any closer to the end credits, I'll just move on.
There weren't many anyway, probably around 7-8 levels across the three games I couldn't complete without help. Tree Tops was my biggest issue, since I knew where the gems were, it just took me some time to do the charge jumps properly to get them.
I mean, it is an external tool or an in-game feature?
If it is in-game I never knew about it, if it is external tools (cheat or youtube) . . . then I guess I will keep doing the old fashioned way ofg looking around myself.
Tried holding all 4 shoulder buttons in Ripto's Rage (causes that's how it worked in the original). Then, after beating Spider Town in YotD, I was confused that Zoe didn't mention it (as that's when you unlock it in the original).
It was a thread that talking about it afterwards was how I found out.
In the original PS1 version of Year of the Dragon, you unlocked it by beating Spider Town in Midday Garden Home, the second Sparx level. Zoe actually explains how the gem finder worked once you unlocked it. There was also a cheat code in the original that you could use to unlock it instantly.
Honestly, even without the gem finder, I never really had too much trouble finding everything in these games anyway, even my first time around. Believe me, I've played these games so many times I practically know them inside and out. Even on Switch, I barely even used it.
