CS3 fishing is ridiculously hard?
Fishing was so straight forward in the first 2 games but this game seems so unbalanced?
Is anyone else having mad issues with it? I'm currently at Agria Old Road for reference and i cannot seem to catch anything.. I just bought the 10k fishing rod from the train which allowed me to catch the red perch but 10 minutes later suddenly my 10k rod seems useless? What the ♥♥♥♥ is up with this?

Lol yeah at first I was like nani the ♥♥♥♥ man.

So some tricks:
Until you have upgrades, don't turbo mode. Even with all upgrades, only short bursts
You can get all the upgrades. They auto equip, so shoulda bought cheap ones first
When the line goes red, actually let go, just before the top bar tells you it'll escape. At that point, tap until the fish no longer mad. Also, you don't wanna have the top bar get to close to the left side, line will snap even with full upgades if turboing and on harder fishes.
Takes practice, but gets easy once you figure it out. Pay atttention to top line, not bottom too much.

Just buy the upgrades in the shop and becomes the easiest in the series.

Thanks for the advice, i'll have to try it. Well even if that is the case, the balancing is way off.. at least in the previous 2 it was somewhat engaging and scaled fine.

I haven't found it too bad, its not my favourite iteration of fishing the series has done though. (And YSVIII had the best Falcom fishing, but I guess its action-style didnt fit with kiseki)
I find that when the fish starts to pull, I release to let the tension of the line recover a bit, but then I tap x repeatedly, as it kinda keeps your tension and hte fish somewhat in place until it stops pulling, then you can start reeling normally again, repeat as necessary.
I think I've only had like 2 fish get away on me so far, one being the first red perch I came across, then it took ages to get another one :'(

I got the red perch with a completely default first rod (no upgrades), but it did take me about 3 tries. Upgrading rod would've probably made it a cakewalk but I had no way of upgrading it at the time the quest was open because it wouldn't let you go back to the training ground where the rod upgrade person is at. \o/

I'm just glad the button mashing is no longer a thing.

The items from the shop arent fishing rods, but upgrades. Buy them all.
Fishing is the easiest in the series tbh.

One of the other class members (Freddy) can also upgrade it.

Hard disagree. Ys VIII's fishing was a massive pain. For me quite literally even, as I get cramps and pain in my fingers if I have to move them that much, that often. The master fishes in that game.. never again.

I think he's referring to the bit in the game where you are not allowed to go back into the camp where freddy is till you've cleared a couple necessary quests, if you want to do the red perch quest immediately, you can't go back to the camp to upgrade, I did the same thing. I'm sure that quest lasts the entire day, but I wanted to get it done whilst I was there 8v

I can understand that entirely, its not for everyone, particularly people with issues such as yourself.
For me though, I really enjoyed the fishing in YSVIII, it was more engaging, though I'm sure they could have kept all the pulling on the rod and stuff whilst reducing the mashing you haev to do to make it still fun but more accessible.

I enjoy it a lot more than the button masher system from before.

How could it possibly be easier than in CS1 and CS2? Fishing is ludicrously easy in both of those games.

And also: why's everyone bashing the button-mashing fishing style of CS1 and CS2? That was awesome, and a vast improvement over fishing in the Trails in the Sky games, and also fishing in the Crossbell games (which used the same inferior fishing system as the Sky games did).

Button-mashing during fishing is a great way to have the player interact with the fishing rod and taking an active part in reeling in the fish, therefore it's great.

I mean the system in 3 also requires player interaction that doesn't make my fingers cry.

It relies on being able to move your fingers fast, frequently and easily. Not everyone can do that (or anymore). Its also not good for your fingers regardless.

so I can upgrade fishing to make it easier, cause I've tried fishing a few times and I just had a horrible times since fishing is hard
Suzu Mar 28, 2020 @ 10:28pm
Just like with the previous games, fishing is tied to FPS.
So basically the higher your FPS the harder fishing gets.
Either limit your FPS to 30 (60 might work dunno, I play on unlimited) if there's something specific you have to catch or buy all the upgrades to make it doable.

i think you did it wrong like mashing button .Fishing is easy compared to previous two .
Just buy one of the £80 pay-to-win DLC's.
