So some tricks:
Until you have upgrades, don't turbo mode. Even with all upgrades, only short bursts
You can get all the upgrades. They auto equip, so shoulda bought cheap ones first
When the line goes red, actually let go, just before the top bar tells you it'll escape. At that point, tap until the fish no longer mad. Also, you don't wanna have the top bar get to close to the left side, line will snap even with full upgades if turboing and on harder fishes.
Takes practice, but gets easy once you figure it out. Pay atttention to top line, not bottom too much.
I find that when the fish starts to pull, I release to let the tension of the line recover a bit, but then I tap x repeatedly, as it kinda keeps your tension and hte fish somewhat in place until it stops pulling, then you can start reeling normally again, repeat as necessary.
I think I've only had like 2 fish get away on me so far, one being the first red perch I came across, then it took ages to get another one :'(
I'm just glad the button mashing is no longer a thing.
Fishing is the easiest in the series tbh.
One of the other class members (Freddy) can also upgrade it.
Hard disagree. Ys VIII's fishing was a massive pain. For me quite literally even, as I get cramps and pain in my fingers if I have to move them that much, that often. The master fishes in that game.. never again.
I can understand that entirely, its not for everyone, particularly people with issues such as yourself.
For me though, I really enjoyed the fishing in YSVIII, it was more engaging, though I'm sure they could have kept all the pulling on the rod and stuff whilst reducing the mashing you haev to do to make it still fun but more accessible.
How could it possibly be easier than in CS1 and CS2? Fishing is ludicrously easy in both of those games.
And also: why's everyone bashing the button-mashing fishing style of CS1 and CS2? That was awesome, and a vast improvement over fishing in the Trails in the Sky games, and also fishing in the Crossbell games (which used the same inferior fishing system as the Sky games did).
Button-mashing during fishing is a great way to have the player interact with the fishing rod and taking an active part in reeling in the fish, therefore it's great.
It relies on being able to move your fingers fast, frequently and easily. Not everyone can do that (or anymore). Its also not good for your fingers regardless.
So basically the higher your FPS the harder fishing gets.
Either limit your FPS to 30 (60 might work dunno, I play on unlimited) if there's something specific you have to catch or buy all the upgrades to make it doable.
