Turn based?
A little confused about the RPG portion of the game. In the description, it says it "flips turn based combat on its head" by changing to FPS or fighting genres. Is this literal? I'm disabled, and reflex based gameplay is rough for me.

VN games are usually out of my comfort zone, but I recently got into the Zero Escape games, and I thought I'd give one another try... especially with such an interesting premise.

If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful.

for what i have seen so far. if you meet certain conditions in battle (you can switch to FPS, beat em up etc.) to give you a bit more advantage in battle (for one character turn i think). don't worry its only a system that give you a bit more advantage, rest is turn based.

VN style is normal for story telling as seen in other games like neptunia.

usually I really hate VN Games (where you 100% click all the time, without exploring in 3D etc.)
but in terms of story telling its fine for me. yes, mostly VN feels uncomfortably too, for me.

death end request is a bit unusual for what i have played so far (Neptunia Games, Monster Monpiece, Mugen Souls)...death end request feels by far more serious.

I have read about, that the game is a good one to have from the PS4 users.

I hope this can help you a bit :)

Yeah, that definitely helps. It would be good to know how important the twitch stuff is... knowing I'm only 60% effective, say, would probably get under my skin. Hell, the platforming for treasure chests in Disgaea 2 annoys me, and from what I understand, those chests are basically garbage. It's just knowing there's content I can't access drives me crazy.

I am sorry but comparing this to Spike Chunsoft games (like Zero Escape) is not a correct venture. At the core the developer behind this game is aiming at mass-producing titles for the mass that would consume it for one reason or the other (not mentioning them out of "respect"), while Spike Chunsoft always crafts a story with more than one dimension and more than one moral. I would say SC creates art, and these people sell entertainment.

I wouldn't really know... I was just saying that I had previously been (mostly) uninterested in games with a substantial visual novel component, but was/am willing to try branching out to games I might not normally have tried before.

From the sounds of it, this would not be one for me. Too bad.

Better.

If you're not in 'story mode' (as I like to call it) then you're walking around a 3d area ('dungeon'). There are monsters running around which you can try to avoid, but it's not as if you're in an infested area. Also: the combat itself is turn based, with a twist...

While your character can make their move no one else will run around and 'do' stuff. You can walk around the battle field in any way you'd like to carefully position and plan the attack. As for the attack itself: by default you perform 3 'attack' actions, but you can also customize this if you'd like by using the appropriate menu.

After your done the other party members get their turn and after all that the enemies will perform their attacks, one enemy at a time.

So there is no "time stress", no "I need to quickly evade this attack otherwise I'm done for", none of that. All turn based, but.. with a twist as I said.

Maybe also good to know: if you don't enjoy having to click to continue the story (in 'story mode' as I call it) then no worries: pressing 9 on the numeric keypad will turn the game into 'auto mode', so the story continues automatically (at a decently slow pace) so that all you have to do is read.

Hope this can help.

That is QUITE helpful! I'm actually pretty okay with the mouse/touchpad... it's the keyboard that's difficult for me. I can play things like Diablo with some adaptive equipment, but it's kind of a pain to set up, so I generally look for games that are almost all mouse controlled.

Is the 3D movement mouse controlled?
