Releasing a station with locked door
If i have the station hull door set to LOCKED after I completed the BUILD A FARMING STATION the npc cannot enter it, they start to unload the cargo shuttle and they simply do not enter the station. I came back many days later and they where still stuck outside. If i reload and set the door to unlock before releasing it everythings works fine.

I wonder how this impacts their trading needs. Does the locked doors mean they don't have items to trade for as they can't move the resources to storage. Could be a very profitable mechanic. At least until they die out from hunger or o2.

Which usually but not always results in a new Station building request.
So this can be considered an exploit actually.
(Build minimum station. Have the cargo port be accessible via a door. Make door locked. Cargo shuttle arrived crew cannot escape. Dies. To speed up turn off all O2 generation. Complete mission a few times rake in cash and remaining resources as reward.)
I did not fully loot but there was a ton of crates lying around when I came back.
I noticed something on recent game updates. If there's a fleet of NPC ships (or stations) and one of them goes derelict for whatever reason, there's a good chance that NPC derelict ship spawns as claimed by the NPC faction and not available for exploring, like a normal derelict does.

So exploiting the game for free derelicts might be not as feasible as it used to be.

Needs more research.

I think what you witnessed is the reclaim derelict.
It was in the game ages ago as well.
As in, say i have jump into a system following a civilian ship that was in battle, and barely won. There are two civilian ships already there.
The ship that got badly damaged hails me and asks me to take care of their wounded crew member. I am about to accept, but the crew member dies. Ship turns to derelict.
I am getting ready to launch my shuttle with folks, when suddenly the ship is now claimed by civilian faction and a shuttle leaves that ship.
Part of one of the civ ship's crew moved and took over that ship.

Any ship that is intact, and was a faction ship can be claimed by their faction, as long as it is unharmed.
I once waited for a civ ship to get infested, went inside killed aliens. Saved crew, and their ship that was a derelict now functions properly.
If i would have jumped away and jumped back, i am unsure if this could have happened.
(Might have changed the derelict into a slightly damaged one)
