Station mode: service advertisement
I saw a couple of questions on how to get more visitors for specific service like for example medical. As of now it seems like it's pure rng with service rating possibly affecting it.

What if some control over visiting ship rng rolls was given to the player by allowing the player to run some kind of advertisement in exchange for credits or other resources to attract more visitors of specific kind?

Implementation can be pretty low cost and reuse existing mechanics like hailing ships and choosing new dialogue option like "If you meet other ships can you tell them about this station ..." with variants like "... having great medical care facility (1000cr)" or "... having coziest accommodations (1000cr)", etc. Executing one of the options will increase probability of next X ships being interested in corresponding service by Y%.

Or, as alternative, unique building only for stations like Long Range Transmitter that lets you broadcast advertisement with similar effect in exchange for energy consumption or energium.

This system could potentially be used to lure other type of visitors like pirates by broadcasting fake messages akin to "hey this is <station name>, we have lots of cool valuable stuff but absolutely no defenses can somebody sell some guns?". Or maybe even aliens or robots after researching them and figuring out what kind of signal will attract them, e.g. fake hivemend call to lure aliens or fake command center data packet to lure robots.

love the "fake ad / bait" idea... take down a pirate vessel, take their transponder, wire it to your antenna array, now you're advertising you're a pirate stronghold, come sell your booty here and get drunk... HA! we lied! open fire! :possession:
