Is it not possible to dismantle pods?
I can dismantle the hangar but I can't figure out how to dismantle the pod itself.

You can't. You can abandom them and they will be left behind.
If you wanted to move the hanger, build the new one, select relocate in the old one and pick the new hangar.
Abandoned pods/shuttles can be claimed again and assigned to a free hangar.
