Choices and Consequences Guide
Version 1.0 of the guide is now available here:
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1595536104

And my guide is finished! Or at least as complete as it can be without more input from the community. Since I don't have a tool to tear open the actual dialogue files for Thronebreaker like I had for The Banner Saga, I can always use more help from the community in documenting the long term consequences that only transpire long after an initial choice is made. What I need is not eg "he'll betray you," but instead "you'll lose 6 recruits" or in other words; details, specifics.

I'm not sure how far into the guide you are, but I have contributed to some reddit threads asking about consequences, you so I might be able to help out when I'm free.

There was a decided lack of interest when I posted this notice, so I did a bit of work on the guide then got discouraged and distracted by RDR2. I will work on the guide and finish it, just might take longer than I'd expected.

I'm up to Chapter/Map #4, have discovered several bugs by now, as always with my guides tags are searchable including the BUG tag *cough* devs *cough*
Ecthelion 2019년 1월 8일 오전 4시 49분
Ah okay nice, I see you've made the guide public now, and it's looking good. I'll try and see if I can contribute anything, though I can't really be sure what you consider tangible/intangible consequences. Choices result in an obvious immediate variation in dialogue (most times anyway), so that probably won't need to be included in a "consequences" guide, but what if they have story effects in future scenes? Here are a couple of examples that came to my mind:

1) The first dialogue choice in the game could be referenced in an additional line of dialogue from Caldwell at the end of Act 1, if you chose "disappointing".

2) Taking off the envoy's head in Act 2 will be referenced in dialogue by Aep Dahy in Act 5.

3) In Act 3, there is a feast scene with Brouver as long as your reputation is not low.

Would these be considered tangible enough for the guide or are you strictly looking at resources, items (letters/cards), and endings?

Ya, those would all be intagibles. Eg. Nothing happens with the feast other than a background change and minor dilogue changes, if it resulted in +Morale then I'dve included that

You can search for the tags "+Evil" to see if you know of any unlisted consequences, or the tag "TODO" incase you can help with any of those

Okay, I understand. The vast majority of the +Evil consequences will be of very little interest to you, considering the very heavy numerical focus of this guide. But for everything else, Iike letters that depend on choices, the TODO list, and anything else I noticed while reading the guide, I'm giving some comments.

author님이 먼저 게시:
"Command your force to help the troll" Battle, Morale = Neutral, Random Loot, Card Unlock (Elf and Onion Soup)
You will also Lose Card (Eyck of Denesle) if he’s already in your party at this point.

author님이 먼저 게시:
TODO: Need someone to test if you still get Arnjolf in map 4 if you punish the raiders
Nope, you get into a gwent battle, after which he dies. That means you miss out on Arnjolf the Patricide, Dagur Two Blades, Disgraced Brawler and Disgraced Warrior.

author님이 먼저 게시:
"Attack the emissary's escort" +Morale, Continue
You will also immediately get Nilfgaardian Ultimatum if you attack (not to be confused with the letter you get later in act 2 for cutting off his head).

author님이 먼저 게시:
"Approach the Wayfarer's Beech" Continue
You'll also get a letter called 'Warning' for doing this.

author님이 먼저 게시:
"Leave the gold in Gatberg" +Evil
In Act 3, you’ll get "Letter from the Mayor of Gatberg". You’re supposed to get a pouch of gold too, but I can’t notice if any gold is being added.

author님이 먼저 게시:
One of three choices that allows you to keep Rayla
I think maybe the guide could point out somewhere that you can keep her card as long as you only disagree with her in 1 of the three choices.

author님이 먼저 게시:
TODO: Need someone to confirm that you also get 5000 Gold if you invest 2500
Confirmed, you get the same options.

author님이 먼저 게시:
TODO: Need someone to tell me what is here if you did not invest
If you invest nothing, the bankers simply won't be there in Act 5.

author님이 먼저 게시:
"Search for the missing dwarves" Continue (+1483 Gold, might be a random amount, only if Rayla is NOT with you)
You will also get the "Call to Arms" letter.

author님이 먼저 게시:
"Attack the Nilfgaardians" ++Morale, Random Loot, -500 Gold, +2x Letters, +Evil
If by the 2nd letter, you mean the "Warning from Clan Council" one, then you also must attack the Nilfgaardian caravan from earlier to get it.

author님이 먼저 게시:
When you leave Mahakam you will always get the card unlocks regardless of how much or how little the dwarves like you. The only thing that seems to change is how many recruits you receive
I think the whole Brouver "reputation" part of the guide stands out as a really strange segment and gets quite a few things wrong, but since you'd like focus on numbers here, I'll just talk about that. The number of the cards you receive actually change. You can either get 2, 4, or 5 of each depending on how much Brouver likes you. This could be important since you can't craft to increase the number of cards for these 3 Mahakam units.

You will also get "Letter from Brouver Hoog" in the Epilogue, if your "reputation" is not in the lowest tier.

Just a typo for Red Lobinden lol.

Yeah I've seen it range from 20-50.

I also lost 5 people for this.

You also get "Letter to Villem".

author님이 먼저 게시:
"Begin producing your own propaganda" +2000 Gold, +40 Recruits (++Morale, +300 Recruits later on)
This will also unlock the 5 Lyrian Pamphlet letters on the map

author님이 먼저 게시:

In the same place, you get a different report to choose between:
-1 Morale
-250 Gold
-1 Morale

"Reynard will lead the assault on the boat landing" +Evil, Continue, Lose Card (Reynard Odo)
"Gascon is the man for the task" +Evil, Continue, Lose Card (Gascon)

Wow, lot to go through there, most of em I've added to the guide, but a few I'll comment on:

author님이 먼저 게시:

I think maybe the guide could point out somewhere that you can keep her card as long as you only disagree with her in 1 of the three choices.

I considered mentioning this even before your comment, problem is I'm running out of room (a Steam character limit) in this section and I'm not entirely sure where I'd put it anyway.
To add it I'd have to take something else out so in the end I just left this part out instead :S
Plus I read an account of someone who had agreed w/ Rayla's first two but buried Eldain and still ended up lossing her

author님이 먼저 게시:

I actually made that "typo" on purpose just to see if anyone would notice lol :)

I also lost 5 people for this.

I mention the recruits back on this line:
author님이 먼저 게시:
"Stop the blood ritual" +Encounter Unlock, +Evil (Later on: -5 Recruits, -Morale if Isbel is NOT with you then later still: +1000 Gold, +500 Wood if with druids)
The line you reference is more just to mark where the morale change happens

Ecthelion님이 먼저 게시:

"Gascon is the man for the task" +Evil, Continue, Lose Card (Gascon)

This one I don't quite understand; Villem joins you then dies if you initially refuse his offer?

That is extremely odd. It must have been either a very specific bug at the time or the person simply misremembered. I've tested that mechanic extensively and the way it works is that the 3 choices contribute evenly to how much Rayla disapproves of you. And if you do two things that she disapproves of, she leaves.

This means that even if you skip two of the choices, and in the remaining Eldain choice, you disagree with Rayla, she will still stand by you in the end, despite the fact that you've never agreed with her ideas before!

Having said that, it was all just a suggestion and this is your guide, so of course you're the one that has to figure what can fit in with the character limits.

Hah! Well, I had a laugh at it, so I guess it serves its purpose.

My mistake about the Lose Villem card part. The thing I was trying to get across is that if Villem is in the castle (because you refused his offer earlier), he will sacrifice himself. In this scenario, you won't have had the Villem card to lose him, but it means that you also won't lose your Reynard or Gascon card, no matter what option you pick here. I feel like you probably already know about this, so maybe I'm missing something obvious.

Actually no, I didn't know you could keep both Reynard and Gascon if you refused Villem, I'll add it to the guide!

I went back and tried adding in something to that section again but I litterally only have 8 characters remaining in Ashes of Aedirn before I'd have to start taking something else out :S

For consistency's sake: You forgot to mention the Skellige Party joining (Arnjolf & his gang) after this part of the 'Behind enemy lines section [just before the Tomb]

"Headed South now

Unavoidable Story Event (if you stopped the blood ritual and do NOT have Isbel with you)
-Morale

* Battle *
Morale = Neutral

If Turned the Skelligers against Nilfgard in chapter 'A Bitter Return' +Card Unlock Arnjolf the Patricide, +Card Unlock Dagur Two Blades, +Card Unlock Disgraced Warriors, + Card Unlock Disgraced Brawler "

Also, it's not quite Red Lobster but Red Lobinden?

Other than that and a few other odd bits here and there it's a pretty great guide, thanks.
Drake Ravenwolf 2019년 5월 19일 오후 2시 21분
@Kawazaki
It hadn't been there because I think I had considered it redundant, but I went ahead and added that line.

And "Red Lobster" is just a hidden joke for those actually reading and not just skimming :)

The guide was invaluable in my completion of the game. Very helpful, thanks indeed!

I 100% the game's achievements in my first run and enjoyed the final battle a lot, actually somewhat challenging so was super satisfying to mow down and destroy those troops.

I had 2 achievements bug out on me but managed to get them with some editing and an hours frustration in a tired state.

ah I've got the Isbel: Destroyer conversation bug. Is there any way to fix it? Since I can't load prev saves, I am stuck with the conv not appearing in the tent.

The guide seems to be prepared in lowest difficulty. In bonebreaker, you gain 3x less rewards.
