Horrendous optimization on a engine such as unreal engine 4!!
Mind boggling

I've played Fortnite, valorant, rouge company on my laptop all ue4 game and never had problems with FPS

But this game runs on not 35 not 25 not 15 but on 1 fps!

Edit:

This is my current configuration with the best balance between performance and quality

In the "GameUserSettings" file modify these values:

[ScalabilityGroups]
sg.ResolutionQuality=85.000000
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=1
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=1
sg.ShadowQuality=1
sg.PostProcessQuality=1
sg.TextureQuality=3
sg.EffectsQuality=2
sg.FoliageQuality=1
sg.ShadingQuality=0

...

FPSLimit=Sixty

...

bUseVSync=False

...

FramerateLimit=60.000000

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the "Engine" file add this at the end:

[/script/engine.renderersettings]
r.DepthOfFieldQuality=0
r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=0
r.BloomQuality=0
r.LightShaftQuality=0
r.MaxAnisotropy=4
r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=-1
foliage.LODDistanceScale=1

This is how the graphics look with this configuration:

Now if you want to get even more FPS in exchange for considerable quality you can change the foliage.LODDistanceScale=1 to 0. In that case the frames will increase a lot, however the vegetation will only appear when you are very close. I believe it's worth it if your PC has extremely low FPS even with all the modifications mentioned above.

And this is how the graphics look with foliage.LODDistanceScale=0:

[OLD]

I found where I could customize the graphics settings:

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Maine\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

I edited the settings according to what I wanted in the 'GameUserSettings.ini' file and now the game is running much better than any preset settings.

Put sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0, sg.ShadingQuality=0, sg.PostProcessQuality=0 and the performance will improve a lot.

Mine is running much better like this:

sg.ResolutionQuality=80.000000
sg.ViewDistanceQuality=1
sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0
sg.ShadowQuality=1
sg.PostProcessQuality=1
sg.TextureQuality=3
sg.EffectsQuality=2
sg.FoliageQuality=1
sg.ShadingQuality=0

...

FPSLimit=Sixty

...

bUseVSync=False

The minimum req is a joke 4GB of ram wtf, Anyway, When i play on lowest settings with 720p game consume about 3,5GB of VRAM and Ram consuption is about 9,5GB, So if i have only 2GB card, I would need about 11 GB of ram. And comparing grounded to Valorant, fortnite or rogue company doesnt seems to be fair either, those game are lightweight on FX compared to grounded. My friend have I5 4G, 24GB of ram and 2GB GTX 960, and run the game on 1080p with lowest settings 90% res, only with 50fps (at best). Even if their improve fps, i would be suprise if you can run the game on such outdated laptop, sorry. 950M DDR3 8GB wont run any modern game on 60fps+. And small technical information, when you run some game on UE4, doesnt mean that you will run every game based on UE4, it depends what kind of FX they using, how big the map is etc. They use a hell of effects to achiev that look what grounded have, even if it doesnt look like that at first glance. They gave to optimize the game a little bit , for sure, but unfornatly it wont help you. Be you, i would refund this game and wait for better machine.

Well i played on f2p day didn't buy it.

And Fortnite does look better than grounded but i get your point.
There's a lot of assets in the screen at a time in this game than Fortnite,im just surprised to see the game run on 1 fps even on the character pick menu which tbh should not require a lot of load tbh

A cry engine game runs better I'm just shocked to a ue4 game perform so badly.

ShockedHearts 2021 年 7 月 31 日 下午 12:53
I have zero issues running the game.

the worst I had was slight frame drop when spawning into a new game for the first time but thats just everything loading. I have everything maxed out and use mods and reshade and still get a flawless 60fps. I think its optimized pretty well in my opinion

Sounds like it's your system, I can play Grounded on a 6 year old laptop and still get 28 Fps...:al_flower:

Are you using MSFT 1 Drive by any chance?
Also you might have to white list the game for anti-virus SW.

there is one way to make sure your games always use the nvidia graphics and that is by going into the nvidia control panel, adding the exe of grounded and setting it to run your high performance Nvidia processor or whatever they call it, and then run the game, hopefully it should run better, if it makes you feel any better I only get around 30 - 20ish fps on a 2060 on medium settings

esports games are heavily optimized because they push millions into it to make it a competitive title with no regard for story, high quality graphics or specific long term playing on a single map. They design them to generate income with tournaments and mass adverts, a solo game that's designed for maybe 1-2 playthroughs by the common person with no long term game loop doesn't optimise for the oldest generations.

You computer is on the edge of being unable to play newer games like this, the gfx card could do some fps but it's still just on the edge.

720p on lowest settings is all you may muster on most new games now if at all with decent 30+ fps. Only option at this point in probably upgrading but the current market has you blackholed to the 2nd hand if you want anything decently priced.

The game is really on a good state. There is only one issue: if i set everything on max i get my gpu to 80-90 celsius! :MS2Slime:
They allready know about this issue and from what i know they working on it.
You can see my rig on my profile.

It's not great on my aging GTX 970, but I managed to get it pretty playable with some fiddling. I want a new card, I really do, but not at the prices they want right now...
