Do you think contested territory is fun?
Taking other people's tiles is satisfying I guess, but I think the gamemode should last maybe a day or two shorter in my opinion.

For my actual fleshed out opinion, I think that the gamemode itself sounds like a really good gamemode on paper, but in practice, it feels like a half-baked/unfinished product that doesn't work well in the gamemode's current state (at least to me).

What I think is Good

The Tiles:
To start off positive, some of the tiles can be fun like many people have said. Race tiles are thrilling and fast paced, and also let you practice racing strategies without worrying about using an actual race entry/pass. Boss tiles are also cool as they usually make me use different boss strategies than what I usually roll with due to the variety of monkey restrictions, making me experiment with different monkeys and tower synergies.

The Competition:
Since it's a more competitive mode like races and ranked bosses, it'll be almost always gratifying to climb yourself and your team towards the top, especially if you encounter a team that is actually trying. Like I said from my initial statement when I first made this thread, it is satisfying to conquer other people's tiles since it can reward you greatly for playing well, and it keeps the heat in a contested territory session with teams that actively pursue the same goal of climbing the leaderboard. However, I think it kinda gets stale after a few or so days, and can get even more uneventful if you end up with opposing teams that don't actively participate/compete against you.

Scraping the Bottom of the Barrel:
The cosmetics look cool I guess, and you get some nifty medals after the end of CT.

What I Think Weakens Contested Territory

The Stuff that Makes CT Repetitive:
Despite how different each experience with each tile might be, it feels like playing the same challenge over and over again throughout a 7+ day timespan. There is only 4 different unique challenges to begin with (correct me if I am wrong), making it feel dull when you complete the 10th least cash or least tiers tile. The lack of variety really waters down the experience for me and makes the gamemode of CT feel like a chore when the active and lively atmosphere is rapidly dissipating as the days go on, making it even worse when you end up with opposing teams that are just idling by or have given up entirely.

Poorly Implemented Features in CT (in my opinion):
While this gamemode usually rewards skillful players, the tile placement in the board can unfairly reward luckier players in the early game who manage to score multiple banner and relic tiles while another team will barely scrape by with standard tiles. The means to acquire clan cosmetics are also abysmal, requiring commitment from almost all team members to get even a few of some cheaper cosmetics, and can even be frustrating if you join a smaller team. Tiles also expire way too fast despite the extended time period starting from the 2nd contested territory season, making the whole CT experience way more tedious since you have to reconquer those important relic and banner tiles in order to have a steady stream of CT points. I feel like there is more stuff that I haven't covered, but this is what I came up with the back of my mind.

Lack of Proper Communication:
While it is understandable that a game like this won't have text-based chat (especially since some players in this game can be really sweaty and it is a kid's game), the absence of any form of communication can infuriate people who are actively participating in CT because they cannot communicate with the players who have just joined in the middle of CT season, but have not made any contributions at all. While this can be solved with a dedicated discord server, people like me aren't up to that degree to utter commitment and most of the teammates that join probably don't use steam to play BTD6. So it would be a big quality of life improvement if any form of communication like pre-made messages or template messages are implemented.

in the bare bones version, it is simply just repeating medium mode maps with light restrictions. but it's still pretty fun

It gets more boring as the event runs on. Simply because you're doing the same banner/relic challenges for like a week straight. Hard to say how to solve it though tbh since having them rotate would come with a whole load of other issues.
they could atleast rotate the mode like if it was time atk when it goes neutral it switchs to least cash

edit- or even the ability to choose from the 3 modes if its neutral would be nice
But what happens if it is captured before it goes neutral? You could hold a tile for the entire week or have it constantly contested and it would never rotate out.

Too many awful "Least Cash" and "Least Tiers"...which I may be alone in my opinion, but my god those modes are terribly boring. The race tiles are fun, and so are the boss tiles, but those are so few and far between, that you sometimes have to go through all 4 of your daily tickets on stupid "Least" tiles. Definitely need to let you choose from the 3 different modes on the regular tiles. I placed 2nd and then 1st in the local, but I don't think I'll be revisiting until something changes. I'd rather just play/make challenges.

Have you played CT at all since then you know how terrible the match making is
only 1 team compete n go try hard while the rest gives up already from day 2

My suggestion would do so even with the horrible match making people might wanted to play it more (but of course have you thought it all through with your amazing brain) :TPBBubbles:

Note: people with 1000+ hours should not be matched up against people with 100+ hours since they gets stomped every time!! (you would be the first to complain if you met my team next time;)

not really. Its just another (and still) smashed together "event" that nobody at NK apparently plays themselves otherwise I have no idea how they release such stuff.

It starts with the moronic tile locations.. oh nice a team as every bonus tile infront of their base while others need 3 days to get anywhere.
Then its literally playing the same boring tiles over and over. I literally stopped and went somewhere else just so I can play something different.


I mean I got 1st twice and 2nd once in local but jesus if I had a life..
You only need an hour or two to use your ticket allowance daily... I know what you're saying but if you're the only person playing in a team, then i guess you can't really blame the mode.

Not if you are in a large team and there are unused tickets around. You can use way more team tickets than personal ones if you play it enough and you have some players who are not doing much around lol.

It's fun just the 1st time you beat each tile. Then, it's just the same once and again until the event ends. I think make the contested territories similar to Monkey City would be much better.

It's annoying redoing the same thing 5 times to retake the same tile again. Honestly I think tiles go back to neutral way too fast, and idk if they should even go back to neutral at all. Why not just allow them to remain at whatever is the best score so that the best player wins, now the one that withstood the tediousness of taking the same banner tiles every day to keep regetting the points. An exception could be the 8 spaces around where each team starts to make it so one good player couldn't just start locking other teams out of the map entirely.

I think they should decay but not return to neutral. That way you only have to replay it if someone CONTESTS your TERRITORY. Kind of the name of the game.

even that doesn't work like it should.

I was basically the only one from my team playing (15 members) and if lucky I got 2 extra tickets or none at all.
Obviously I checked if someone else played a tile etc but mostly it was not the case. Probably the reason why the timer is useless and doesn't give tickets when the countdown has reached 0... is a bugfest.

Last event I got 2nd because of the missing tickets on day 2 (not that I care about the placement really).

For reference, my group recently won our bout against other teams by a solid 10K point gap. We got 535 trophies for it.
The cost of the cheapest cosmetic is 17,500 trophies. How much of this game are we expected to play? Do we quit our jobs, sell off our aged family members and create BloonCoin server farms?
We're expected to win 35 weeks in a row to get a campfire on our tiles? Utterly ludicrous.

idk ct cosmetics arent that much tbh if u factor in the local/global bonuses i was getting like 2k-3k per account thats not that bad especially if u have a full team
