Stop trying to make ice monkeys happen.
Every game, there they are. The Ice Monkey. Every game, they're the one thing I don't want on my board. Too expensive to get where they contribute, and until then they give immunity to bloons. And yet, they keep showing up, and not helping..... 'Stop trying to make it happen. It's not going to happen.'

aww.... but i love me some 204 ice monkeys...

They work ok if you stack them with glue, acid, and burn status but I think they would be best to use farther down on your track in high waves when the MOAB class bloons are coming down the track too far and causing a lot of ceramic to get near the end.

the 205 can actually be really good when you pair them up with 020 villages. i use that combo alot during round 95 and very usefull at stoping ddt's

Ice monkey on early rounds is awful, you need better towers to take down the first moab. After r40, then you can invest on ice monkey.
its goes...
ninja
alchemist
something
glue gunner
something
and maybe something else
ice monkey

At the beginning, they can only be somewhat decent alongside a tack shooter. Better to wait for at 3rd or 4th tier upgrades, though. At that point they can help you make short work of e.g. 63.

But I love ice monkey...

But Ice Monkeys can freeze the water into Ice to let other monkeys stand on it! It's hard to imagine getting past level 250 in "Flooded Valley" without them! [See my screenshot below]

Check out all the white spots on the "water." That's where the Ice Monkeys, specificly 030 or better (preferable 032 or 042) Ice Monkies have frozen the water into ice. In the case of flooded valley, you need to either start them on the 5xx Buckaneer to get them up on top of the dam, or if you manage to open the dam, you can start it on the high rocks on the left. Once they freeze the water, you can put stuff on it within their radius, including more Ice Monkeys to spread them out further. That's how/why they are Supermonkeys and Banana Markets and stuff like that on the water. Btw... once you have Ice Monkey A make a spot for B, and B for C, you can sell off "Monkey A." and still have "B" and "C" keep each other from sinking in. If they do sink in, they will effectively sell and give the money back (last time I tried.)

As far as opening the dam, I've yet to see anyone but myself describe exactly how to do it(*)... but here you go: There are the two buttons on the dam. It is a take-off on the idea of nuclear subs/silos where, in theory, you need two people to turn keys at the same time. You need to click one to open the cover, and not click the button. Then you need to click the other without clicking the button. Then you need to click the first button before the cover closes, and then the 2nd button before it closes. To be honest, it happens too fast for me to do at all early in the game, but once I get enough clutter on the screen, it lags out enough that the covers slow down and I have time to make it work. After you do both buttons they way I described, and 3rd big button will open up... you can click that and it will offer to flood the valley for $5000 in-game cash.

* - Try are videos of people getting it to open after 2-20 tries, but I've never seen anyone explain how you have to get both covers (and not buttons) first, and then the buttons the way I did above (before I saw myself describe it just now.)

Bruh, a 5-x-x Ice monkey can decamo ddt's, slow down all MOABs (not by much unfortunately) and make them take extra damage from all other attacks! Of course Ice Monkeys are viable! Do your research next time.

400 ice is enough to decamo, but I wouldnt rely on it.

Ice monkey has suffered in every new entry as being one of the worse towers available. It needs one (NOT ALL) of the following to be viable.

-much longer range. The range of the ice tower is pathetic. Giving it long range would ensure it won’t miss, help it be useful on tracks without curves, and make building a defense around an ice tower more important, since more bloons frozen means more darts/projectiles that can’t pop bloons.

-a secondary attack. I’ve always felt that the ice monkey should attack the way a dart monkey does, but throw snowballs (that freeze bloons) and then have an internal, smaller radius that freezes bloons that get close. Not only does having a short+long range attack increase attack speed, making the tower more viable, but it also provides upgrade paths that can strengthen its ranged attack or its “melee” close range attack.

6 aaaalllmost committed, but it chose to make the ranged icicle launcher Terri-bad, and it’s final upgrade not only costs too much, but the path removes the towers’ AoE attack.

-affect bloon health over time. Alchemist, mortar, and glue monkey operate off similar “support offense” roles, and there’s no reason ice monkey shouldn’t as well. In addition to slowing bloons it should be able to damage frozen bloons over time (as long as they’re truly frozen.)

It’s a bit too late to add these changes in 6 , as the ice monkey already has all its upgrades filled out, but I hope it is heavily retooled in 7 so it’s not so wasteful.
