the range is so small and its footprint is so big.
i really want them to bring back that super long radius increase that it had from 5 , i bought it then and i'd certianly buy it now , every patch that comes out i comb through it to see if its added in.
this games monkey village's footprint is almost as large if not bigger then a super monkey , and its range is so little it can only fit 4-5 towers within it and only one of them can become offensive.
What made monkey village so good was that it was agreat buff tower to migate weaknesses of towers. If a tower could not detect camo or couldn't pop a specific bloon type the monkey village fixed that. It also gave good stats to nearby towers.
This has changed drastically. Many towers have new abilites that lets them pop bloons that they couldn't before, monkey wizard is basically much better than monkey village for detecting/removing camo. We have an entire upgrade in the monkey knowledge that makes it possible for an entire tower tribe to pop frozen bloons.
And lead bloons have never been an issue anyway and in BTD6 you have even more options to pop them.
The base range of monkey village is also really low. I didn't check this but I think it is smaller than in BTD 5 (without the double range increase). Tgether with its large footprint and how most maps are designed you don't have good areas where you can cover a lot of towers. For a support-only tower this is terrible. The tower has no attack on his own (only in the path 1 tier 5 upgrade which is expensive as hell anyway) so he either needs better support options or get a bigger radius that you don't have to build so many.
A big problem is, his first path concentrates on only a very small part of the tower collection (primary monkeys) which is too different from what he did before (supporting all towers). His second path concentrates on throwing out additional pop support (anti camo, regrow and lead) which is, like I said before, not necessary since many other towers do the same but better.
The only real "good" path is the last one which concentrates on cost reduction. Lower costs on towers early on are nice and if you can get the 10k upgrade for the 50% money increase you can save alot of money in the long run. However the initial investment is big and here comes the low range again in play. It affects only towers in range and this is terrible.
The range does not have to cover the whole map, I agree this is too powerful. But at least it shoudl be bigger as it is now.
Im glad its no longer so universal now, defenetly a move in the right direction
But it still feels like nk pushed it a little too far in that direction and need to push to back a little. Because most of the upgrades are really quite silly.
