Controls are terrible
Game looks awesome, but I gave up before completing the demo, I played like 5 minutes.
Controls are aweful, should make WASD or something like that. Controller is not better though.

It's a pity cause the game looks refreshing and with very interesting mechanics.

EDIT: OR an option like binding your skills to keys rather than middle mouse, etc, should be a comodity, imho.

wtf are you a boomer? The controls are wonderful and play really well with it. I like having the mouse be the control. Gives a good sense of freedom.

Controlls with a mouse are fine, I would wish for a "devoure" key though, to be seperate from RMB, or at least an alternative key you can hold down and consume every human you touch.

i didn't have any problems with the actual control scheme of left/right click and drag, its likely because i quite like 'novel' control methods, and to be entirely fair. Mouse distance = speed control is a fairly useful tool plus the ability to control the Precise direction it moves towards allows far finer control than what the usual simple 4 button Up Down Left Right control wouldn't really allow(and yes i know W+A would be up and left diagonal movement, its just that a 360 degrees movement will always be more precise than 8 total directions). and i like to think that the mouse controls everything is a bit of a Challenge/puzzle to the game. Though i will fully agree MMB for all abilities being held down or tapped (i could not use the web ability once i reached the second stage, since it was replaced with the hold down MMB for dash, and while i will admit the dash is stronger against the drones, the ability to temporarily disable them then dash would have been very nice.) is a very limiting system, even pressing a key to Swap abilities would be better than "everything is bound to MMB."

i prefer the LMB RMB and MMB controls, idk it's just simpler that way

i thought the controls were pretty easy with a mouse
Lol they are awesome

Played with controler, Liked the controls, its probably little bit strange for people which are not used to twinstick controlls, but you will get the hang of it pretty fast.

I'd like some slight changes to the acceleration of our monster when not going full tilt on the sticks. Other than that I liked it.

100% agree here... I could not control this thing for the life of me and any subtlety one might have in being stealth is thrown out the window. Also the constant holding down of the RMB just feels... weird.

Would love to see WASD movement, but "aiming" via mouse and the distance away still affects acceleration. Or even "SPACE" to consume once a victim is captured.

Absolutely beautiful game, but controls need help!

I didn't had much issues playing thru the demo with a controller; just got a little confused with the wood breaking stuff, and occasionally forgot I could grab things in different directions, but overall seemed like it was just a matter of getting used to the controls and not issues with the controls themselves.

Though, playing just with the mouse feels a little awkward; but I haven't given that a try for long.

I've just pushed a beta build which lets you re-bind all the keys available in the game. However, the settings' UI is still far from ready (in fact, it's non-existent at the moment), so the procedure requires some typing. To access the build, go to the beta branch (password keepcalmandcarrion).

Then, open the console (~) and type in:
set_setting controls_kb_monster_offensive Z

to bind Z to the cobweb shooting/dashing action (the key/button code is case-sensitive).

Here's an exhaustive list of possible keys and buttons: https://pastebin.com/NEj8W20z
and some input settings used in the demo: https://pastebin.com/dy977vRh

Alternatively, it's possible to change all the settings by editing the following file (if it doesn't exist, then run the game to create it and fill it with defaults):
%AppData%/../Local/Phobia/Carrion/default_settings.json

You can also bind combos, e.g. left control + Z (be careful about spacing):
set_setting controls_kb_monster_offensive LeftControl+Z

The full version will, obviously, feature a nice and dandy UI to do the job painlessly, so there aren't any guards yet to prevent you from messing your settings up beyond the point of no return. If that happens, reset the game to its "factory settings" by just deleting the config file and running the game again.

I mean it IS early access, so rebinding will surely come

i just like that you don't need a keyboard to play it, though mmb can be annoying to press.

I had no issues at all with the controls. I was fine with mouse and keyboard. It took maybe a minute to adjust to the controls and understand what it was doing. I do not think they need adjusted but perhaps adding more options would be nice.
I also don't think WASD would work very well given the setup but I don't see why someone couldn't attempt to work it that way if they wanted to.

I have abstained from speaking, of course, but I do want to say: While I agree that the developers have done well to implement an option for WASD movement - thank you very much for the news and instruction, s-m-k - I for one strongly like the left mouse button movement and am eager for it to remain in as at least an option, and ideally as the default.
